Another Old Scarf

Keyhole scarf
I haven’t done any sewing lately so here’s another old project that I’ve never taken a picture of. It’s a keyhole scarf, found the same night as the other one. I’ll have to check that box and see what else I have in there!

I tried to get Isabelle to model it for me. I thought she’d be accommodating seeing she was running around with a hat on. But she would not cooperate. She was too busy checking to see if she’d hit puberty yet. ;-) Will wear a hat but not a scarf

So I had to wear it. Sheesh it was hard for me to take a picture in the mirror. I obviously have no concept of where my camera is pointing when I’m not looking through the viewfinder. It took about 20 shots to get one that I was happy with.

Ok off to finish drawing my daily comic.

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! It’s been a little off here. I didn’t even get it together to send out holiday cards this year. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things, to post regularly but I am feeling out of practice. Is that weird? It’s only been a little over a week but it feels longer. I guess what contributes to this, out of sorts feeling, is that I haven’t been keeping up with my blog reading, I’ve been trying to avoid my website email, and we were actually without internet for a few days. And plus that was a whole different year ago. :)

I wish I had posted regularly, saving those cherished little moments here to read later. But now they are lost, casualties of my crap memory. I’ve been going through the pictures trying to remember those little tiny things but most of them are gone. For example looking at this picture, all I can think of is peppermint chocolates.

That’s right. Peppermint chocolates. This was taken at a friend’s party. Isabelle hadn’t eaten much if any real food. Towards the end of the night she saw me eating a yummy piece of peppermint chocolate. She tried a piece and LOVED it. She kept dragging me back to the room, saying “more”, and eating piece after piece.

Oh and this scarf. I made it ages ago, before Isabelle was even born. I didn’t even realize I had it. Have I ever taken a picture of it? It was one of my early knitting projects, a keyhole scarf. I remember I wanted to do the whole thing in a seed stitch but the going was slow so I changed to a rib stitch. Well anyhoo, one night we went to watch a drive in movie, we all dressed up warm, and I just grabbed a scarf for Isabelle, this scarf. It’s now her favorite accessory. She loves it. At the party, she did not want to take it off for the longest time.

Ok more posts to come and hoping to catch up with everyone soon. Right now I’m missing the movie we rented. :)

I’m happy to report there has been no vomiting! Yay! But today I woke up to this.
Nosebleeds like her daddy
Isabelle had a bloody nose last night. She takes after her daddy. Alan used to have bloody noses too when he was little. He still does occasionally, right out of the blue, something to do with the change in weather or I don’t know what. The thing is, Isabelle gets them when she’s asleep. I can hear her start sniffling and when I look down, sure enough I see it’s a nosebleed.

When she’s had them before we’ve freaked out, ran for tissue to wipe up all the blood, and tried to apply pressure to her nose. That of course wakes her up and she is NOT happy. She’ll be crying and she won’t let us touch her nose. The nosebleeds just stop on their own. So last night, when I saw her nose was bleeding, I didn’t want to wake her. She was on her side and luckily there wasn’t a lot of blood. It just stopped on it’s own again.

But here’s a question. What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to wake her up and fight with her to try to apply pressure? You know this wouldn’t even be a question if Isabelle slept in her own bed. If that were the case I wouldn’t know until the morning that she’d had a nosebleed. So maybe the answer is to do nothing except make sure the room is humid enough. Yeah ok, answered my own question.

So anyhoo I noticed that I haven’t shown anything crafty lately. Well that’s because there hasn’t been any sewing going on. A lot of thinking about sewing but no actual sewing so nothing much to show. There has been, however, a lot of drawing and knitting . But knitting takes me a damn long time. I’ve been working on Miss Muffet again. Seed stitch, seed stitch aaaahhhh so much seed stitch! And it’s still not done.

Unending seed stitch

I needed a break so, in my oh so illogical fashion, I cast on something new instead of picking up something old.

Starting Mary Jane Pithy hat
This is the start of a Mary Jane’s pithy hat. I should be ashamed to use this yarn. Last time I touched it, I was knitting Uncle Angus. Am I ashamed? NO. I am thrilled to be starting something new. Absolutely happy to be making a hat when I don’t even wear hats. Yeah, like I said, ILLOGICAL.

Something Else

So something else that I did while the computer was in the shop…KNITTING! Wow how many months has it been since I’ve knitted?! I started working on Miss Muffet again. There was a reason why I stopped. I remembered the reason when I picked it back up. I was on a confusing part of the pattern so I put it aside to give it some thought and never picked it back up. Well after all these months the pattern made sense! :-D

So I was making pretty good progress. I really hope to finish it before Isabelle is too big to wear it. But then I got distracted with something else.

Reading! I know the new Harry Potter book is coming out soon so I decided that I must reread them all in preparation! But you know, I’m getting antsy to do something creative. This morning this intense desire to draw struck. I’ve been thinking of doing a drawing a day and in my head I thought I’ll get a pack of paper and just work through it, one a day. The desire was so strong I actually started to get ready to go out but changed my mind at the last second. Why? Because it is soooo damn hot outside. It’s not quite 100 but almost. So I figure I’ll just go out tomorrow since we’re going out anyways and save myself a trip.

See how I jump from one thing to another? Amazing that I get anything done at all! Well everyone enjoy your weekend! Hope it’s more productive than mine will be! :)

Last weekend Alan brought me to the quilt store to look for some piggy fabric. They didn’t have any. Oh woe! So as consolation we went to Joann’s and I bought some new fabric even though I have a lot of $1 fabric leftover still. Ahhh I can’t stop myself. It’s my new obsession! Instead of yarn it’s fabric. I have been knitting though, believe it or not. A row here, a row there on Miss Muffet.

But fabric…aaaahhhh fabric…my new joy. Here is some, just some of the new fabric I bought. One of these fabrics (I haven’t decided which one yet) will be this next dress for Isabelle. I have no idea how to make it though.

Here’s page 1 and page 2 of the directions. I don’t know how they made the scrunchy top part of the dress. Anyone have any ideas?

Oh and I called Apple. It may cost anywhere from $250 and up to fix my poor computer. :(

Alan brought me to a quilt show on the weekend, my very first ever. I had decided not to go the night before but when Alan woke up he decided that we would all go. He loves me. :)

On the fairgrounds outside the quilt show

And what did I buy at the quilt show? Yarn! Ha ha ha! This is Miss Muffet. It’s from Rowan Classic Bambino book twelve. Alan thinks it looks weird. I think it’s cute!
