Month Thirty Three Family Picture

Family picture late again.
Oh yeah that's why we don't take pictures with the dogs
Or also called “oh yeah that’s why we don’t take pictures with the dogs”. Do you know how hard it is to get the three of us to look in the same direction, at the camera, at the same time? Now imagine throwing the dogs in there too. Yeah.

I think this was the best shot where you could actually see all of our faces. And none of us are looking at the camera.

You know, I haven’t been doing recaps on Isabelle. It’s because by the end of the month I can’t remember anything specific so I don’t have anything to write about. But this month, one, no, two things stick out spectacularly, annoyingly, horrifically…

She can now reach the lights and open doors by herself without the help of a chair. Just one day, she realized it. Alan’s losing sleep over this. With every click of the fan he imagines her barging into the bedroom while he’s asleep. And I’m constantly following behind her turning off lights.

This also makes bed time a challenge, to say the least. Why lie there contentedly waiting to fall asleep when you can climb off the bed, turn on the lights, and LEAVE the room?! But once she’s asleep she’s a champion sleeper (well usually, except for this morning when she woke up at 5:52am and stayed AWAKE).

Oh wait, three things stick out. Add throwing her food to the dogs on purpose. She now asks for food just so she can throw it to the dogs. Or sometimes just to throw into the air in every direction because she knows they will eat it. I just thought of that right now because, yep, that’s what she’s doing right this moment. Ok. Must stop typing to deal with my little monkey.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Month Thirty Two Family Picture

Isabelle turned another month older last week. We forgot to take a family picture. Again. So we took it late. AGAIN.
Month thirty two family picture
I just asked Alan, “when do you want to stop taking monthly family pictures”. But I don’t think we’ll ever stop. I like looking back and seeing the changes in Isabelle. In fact the pictures on Flickr aren’t complete. Maybe I’ll go back and add the rest from her first year on there…

Day at the Museum

A couple of weeks ago, I decided I wanted to post more pictures of Isabelle on here. Alan doesn’t download the pictures off the camera so unless they are on my blog or I show him, he doesn’t get to see them. Well you’ve seen how well that’s been going. :)

Even after Isabelle got back to her happy little normal self, I haven’t been in the mood to write or to even look through pictures. But today is different. We finally got around to taking our monthly family picture, over a week late, and I had to go through THEM ALL.

So, here are pictures from this weekend. We went to the Oakland museum with my friend Veronica to eat cake!
Cake!

No. Just kidding. They did have cake there but we went to look at wildflowers. Here’s the description from their site, “Celebrate the coming of spring with California’s diverse wildflowers at the annual Wildflower Show. Create a child-sized flower bouquet, compose a mini-terrarium, check out the vital role of bees as pollinators, and more!“. I was looking forward to making a terrarium with Isabelle. I’ve been wanting to make a terrarium since at least February 13th. How can I be so exact on the date? Because that’s when I took this picture:
Look what Isabelle did with the empty jar
See how Isabelle filled it with what she wanted, her toys and a partly eaten cookie? :) It’s been sitting empty since then.

Yeah, so that’s the main thing I wanted to do, make a terrarium. And wouldn’t you know it, we didn’t get around to doing it. So what did we do instead? We looked at wildflowers. Me and Veronica laughed like little kids at the funny names of the plants like this one:
Funny names for plants

Still gives me a giggle.

And what else did we do? Make a paper flower hat!! A little hat made out of PAPER!! (You can click on each picture individually to see it larger)

Starting with a flat piece of paperCrumple crumple
Add some paper flowersTa da!!! A paper flower hat!

It was a little challenging. Isabelle didn’t understand at first why we were putting this big piece of paper on her head. She kept ducking out of the way. I’m so glad Veronica was there to help take pictures. We needed both pairs of hands to get the paper on Isabelle.

And here is Isabelle showing it off when we were taking our monthly family picture today.

So yeah…let’s see when I’m in the mood to post again. Hopefully it’ll be soon.

Month Thirty Family Picture and a Video

Isabelle turned another month older on Alan’s birthday. Here’s our monthly family picture.

She’s getting so tall. She can reach the pedals on her tricycle now.

Isabelle can reach the pedals now

And I know she hasn’t had little chubby baby fat legs for a while. They’re skinny little girl legs. But in this picture it’s soooo apparent.

No more baby fat chubby legs

And finally, a video I’ve been meaning to share from last month. I turned away for a second and Isabelle had grabbed my camera. Not a cheapo I don’t care about camera, but my camera that I love and use all the time. But instead of grabbing it away from her, I just held my breath, hoped for the best, and grabbed the camcorder. And here’s the video (totally worth the feeling of terror to capture this moment on video). Password :izzybear

She enjoyed playing with my camera so much and it was so cute that I dug up my old i-zone Polaroid camera. And now she plays with that instead. She stands there saying “cheese“, “snapping pictures”, and working the little switch.

I’ve been trying to get a picture of her doing that for a month. Every single time she does it, I grab my real camera, and try to take a picture. But once she sees the real camera, of course, she wants to hold the real thing. She stops saying “cheese” with the little i-zone and tries to chase me down to get the real camera. Finally…FINALLY today I got this picture of my little wannabe photographer.
Cheese!

Month Twenty Nine

Isabelle turned twenty nine months old today. She is sweet and loving, always asking for hugs and kisses. And she is as mischievous as ever.

Playing with "gasses"
Here she found this pair of old “gasses”, as she calls them, from a drawer she’s not supposed to be in. She had way too much fun with them.

Climbed up here and turned on the water all by herself
She’s getting into everything and in places she isn’t supposed to be. Here she climbed up onto the bathroom counter, turned on the water, and was splashing everywhere. In fact that is one of her favorite things to do, play with water, that’s why she loves bath time so much.

Customer in training
Isabelle wants to do everything on her own. One of my readers, Debbie, told me about a grocery store in Walnut Creek where they have little shopping carts for kids. She wanted to put EVERYTHING in her cart, mama’s little monkey, I mean helper.

Getting into places she's not supposed to be
And in this picture, she had piled all the pillows, from the bed, behind the rocker. She made herself a little nest. Caught red handed!

And our monthly family picture where I told her to wave to the camera. HIIIII!!! Isn’t she the cutest? I could just squish her. Actually I think I will, right now. :)

Month Twenty Eight

On Saturday Isabelle turned twenty eight months old and we brought her to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.

Isabelle had so much fun looking at everything.

Hi rabbit!
She waved and said hi to the animals.

Scary
She tired herself out completely. She wasn’t freaked out by any of it unlike ME. I didn’t want to touch the dead stuffed animals (by the way which is very cool that you can touch them gently as the sign says). I was scared of the big brown bear. It’s another reason camping doesn’t sound appealing. I actually shrieked (well that sounds too loud, squeaked) in fright seeing the biggest insect, some creepy crawly thing, the size of the palm of my hand.

Playing vet
But Isabelle, was interested in it all. She especially loved the little discovery area where she pretended to chop up vegetables and played vet by wearing the toy stethoscope. Alan had to pry the little vet toys out of her hand when we left.

Month Twenty Seven

Month twenty seven family picture
I am thinking about taking Trixie’s suggestion. Maybe I’ll do wordless posts with just photos the rest of December. I’ll just do some rollover notes on Flickr, so click on the picture if you want. That way there’s no pressure for me to say anything here. :)

Yeah….maybe. Not like this is a good start to a wordless rest of December. But Isabelle’s another month older. I have to say that. It’s mandatory according to bylaws and statutes. Hee hee! (I’ve never used those words before so I had to throw that in there.)

So anyhoo, this is our monthly family picture in all our pajamaed glory taken at about 4 p.m in the afternoon and posted on time for a change. What?? Are you asking, what are you guys still doing in your pajamas at 4 p.m in the afternoon? Don’t you all stay in your pajamas all day? We do. I KID YOU NOT. Makes it easier if Isabelle wants milk. What? You’re still breastfeeding? Ah, yeah. That’s a post for another day.

Oh my! Can’t have just one photo for the occasion. Must put up more.
