Snappy monster who's not fit for company
Yes. You read it in the title. I’m not pregnant. :( And I’m also grumpy, snappy, and queasy. A big monster who’s not fit for company. I thought drawing would help. It didn’t. I’m not pregnant and I’m mad. I don’t know why. I wouldn’t usually be mad but this time, I just am. Yes, I’m sad and disappointed but the mad is in there too. Actually maybe ‘mad’ is too mild a term. I’d say I’m closer to furious. I could kick something or throw something or both, a few dozen times. Or maybe a few million.

I was stalling on taking the test. I’ve never had a super regular cycle and since I’m still breastfeeding Isabelle, that really plays havoc with it. I don’t like taking the test unless I really really think I’m pregnant. Because when it comes out negative, I feel like I’ve wasted the test, which I know I haven’t but that’s just how I feel. Makes no sense, I know.

So this morning I took the test and it was a big old waste. And yes I took it because I was just so sure I was pregnant. So positive, I was happily bopping around in my head thinking about it. But I’m not pregnant! And now I’m being a big grump and Alan is trying to make me feel better but it’s not working. He give me a big hug, tells me we’ll try again, and I just feel…aaaarrrghh. Hands clenched, jaw clenched, irritated, outraged, just fuming. I could just push him away but I don’t. Sorry honey.

I’m so angry. I’m sitting here rereading what I wrote and didn’t even realize my hands were clenched into tight fists. I’m just going to stop typing now before I am even more tempted to throw my laptop across the room. My feelings sway between furious and dejected. I think I’m going to go into the other room and cry now.

Sock crazy
Yes this morning I forgot. I woke up and just plain forgot. Then I was too busy looking for my purple polka dot socks. Then I was too busy changing my banner to a sock banner. (Hmm…can’t remember the last time I used a banner that I didn’t draw)

SOCK CRAZY I tell you!

Trying to Capture a Sock Animal Get Together

Thank you all for the “you don’t suck” comments. It’s always nice to know you don’t suck. :) I do enjoy drawing my comic very much and I don’t see myself stopping. I think it’s just a matter of me managing my time better. So with that in mind I started drawing this earlier in the day instead of at 11pm at night. That’s when I’m rushing to get it under the wire for my, self imposed, drawing a day. Silly really if you think about it.

A sock animal get together
Oh and if I ever think about coloring sock animal drawings again…somebody slap me! It took forever. I think after the first pane I was about to pull my hair out. I almost ran screaming from the computer. ;-) But I kept going. After the second pane I wanted to scratch my eyes out. But I was halfway done so kept going with much kicking to myself. It’s so much easier to draw a pattern on socks than on sock animals. And for a daily comic I sooo should have done this without the color.

Mine

Hey! Get away! I said they were MINE!
I think that’s as good of a picture as I’m going to get of them all together.

Too Busy

Too busy
Yes. These were some of the things I was doing when I realized I hadn’t drawn today. I sat down and rushed this one out. That’s the real reason why the third pane is just text. I suck.

Sock Elephant

Not again!

So I ended up cutting a pair of socks up, not the ones I took a picture of, but one of the pairs I drew. I cut them up and turned them into a sock elephant. I had a hard time taking a picture of him though, because Isabelle was running off with him. I’m going to say it again but wow it’s hard to take pictures of soft toys with a toddler around!

I did manage to finally get this picture of him by himself but it’s not quite accurate. He’s falling over so you can’t tell he’s all wonky.

His head is too small for his body. It’s not noticeable in this picture. I probably didn’t cut in the right place. And I should have stuffed his head more before I sewed it up. I didn’t notice though until after I made up his body. Then the size difference was waaaay obvious. And his ears are funny. I took such care with his arms and legs and ran out of steam with his ears. They’re not tucked in and just funky.

But Isabelle likes him and that’s all that counts.
