Alan is definitely not a morning person. He’s more of a late afternoon person. So, I’m always unsure about the whole breakfast in bed thing. But that’s what we did Father’s day. Breakfast in bed.

It has been almost a month since I talked about the chicks.
Chick, chick, chick
Chick, chick, chick

I was taking pictures of them daily. I thought it would be nice to see how quickly they grew. They are so fun to watch.
What?
Silly little things.
Three musketeers

They multiply like rabbits.
Chick, chick, chick, CHICK!

Just kidding. We got one of those furry pants ones.
New chick. One of those fat ones with pants

See her fuzzy feet?
Fuzzy feet. Or is that feathery feet?

Then I got sick. And I fell off the picture taking bandwagon. And the chicks kept growing bigger and bigger and when we let them outside for the first time I tried to get back to picture taking. Even got a video of their first time out there.

But then they were getting so big we moved them into a bigger cage, a wooden one. And the light was bad and yep. Not a lot of picture taking going on. But I decided it was about time I wrote about the chicks again, though they are no longer chicks anymore.

And to show how big they’ve gotten, I snapped some photos of them yesterday. They’re “awkward teenagers” (phrase used from one of the homeschool moms) now.

Isabelle has renamed Alan’s chicken, aka Popeye, to Patrick.

And here is mine and Isabelle’s. I started calling mine Nugget but Isabelle has renamed her Jellyfish. And Isabelle’s chick, the Colonel, she has renamed Flower.

Then finally here is Leaf.

Oh…here is a good picture of Jellyfish’s feathers coming in on top of her head.

If you’re interested in all the photos I did manage to get, here’s the entire set of our feathery friends.

Following His Sister’s Footsteps

The other day Nathan had his first nose bleed. :(
First bloody nose

Isabelle was all, “what?! He’s just like me!
First bloody nose

And just like his sister, he’s been throwing up. What am I talking about? Well, on Sunday Isabelle started throwing up. She didn’t have a fever or anything. But she was throwing up. We called the advice nurse and she prescribed some medicine over the phone. On Monday the vomiting hadn’t stopped so we gave her the medicine and just like that, no more vomiting.

Well, yesterday, Nathan started to throw up just like Isabelle had. Except he was worse. But it wasn’t apparent right away. He threw up three times in the morning. Then he was fine. So fine that we thought, it’s warm so let’s set up the kiddie pool and let the kids play in it.

Ok. Not so smart maybe. After his nap he started throwing up again. Lots. On me.

I went through so many outfits.
What I wore today: June 22
Ok. He didn’t throw up on the bathing suit or the clothes. Just the nightgowns, the top two on the left. And I just realized right now I forgot to draw one nightgown. I went through three that day.

So we brought him to the doctor today.
Lost 10 ounces from his last doctor appointment in April
By then he had thrown up like eleven times total from yesterday. Just vomit everywhere. He threw up in the car twice. Once to the doctor’s and once back. He’s lost ten ounces. Surprisingly though he didn’t cry at the doctor’s. Usually when she’s poking at him he cries. But today I laid him down and held his hand and he was pretty much fine. Maybe his not feeling well meant he had no fight in him.

So, anyhoo, the doctor prescribed him the same medicine. And it worked. Awesome. Hope he follows Isabelle’s pattern and is fine tomorrow with no more vomit.

Round and Round

Nathan threw up twice last night. And once today. :( My poor little guy. At least I didn’t go through as many clothes. I just got thrown up on once. More what I wore today drawings:
What I wore today: June 25
I started the morning in my black and white nightgown. Then we went out and I had to wear real clothes. Boo. Then we got home and I changed back into my nightgown. Hey, makes breastfeeding easier. Then I got vomited on so I changed into my purple nightgown.

And totally random old video just because.

Can you guess where we were? And I said old video. Spinning him round and round wasn’t why he threw up.

From Starfish to Seahorse

Isabelle has been taking swimming classes now for almost four months. We’ve been going weekly.

Isabelle started at level starfish, which is for nervous beginners.
Holey floormats, Batman

Every week she would bargain with her teacher. We could see her through the glass. When the teacher wanted her to dunk her head under the water, we could see Isabelle putting her hand up to the level of her chin. She wanted to compromise, only dipping her head to chin level, no further.

Then, one week, Isabelle did it. She put her head under the water.

And now…well look at her go:
