Alan built me a computer. And when the computer case came in the mail, the shipping box was a hit.
And when I say, she squeezed in, I mean she really squeezed in there. See, how small it is?

No. Seriously. It’s small and Isabelle SQUEEZED in there. Here is Nathan in there as a reference to how small said box is.

Kids and boxes. Gotta love those boxes.
Have a good weekend everyone!
It’s been quiet on here. I meant to write days ago but we’ve been out everyday. EVERYDAY. So, just a quick post to share what we did on Saturday.
We drove to Cupertino to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday. I believe she turned 85. I always forget to ask and I’m sure in my Flickr stream I’ve written the wrong age before so I don’t know. But anyhoo, here are my mom and grandmother.

We always seem to celebrate at the same Chinese restaurant. It’s the usual Chinese fare. Well, when I say usual, it’s the usual weird stuff that Americans don’t generally eat. It’s not Americanized Chinese like fried rice, egg rolls, and chow mein. It’s proper Chinese, though I’m sure that restaurant does sell all of those things too. So, what is some of the weird stuff? Lobster salad.

It had a little dish of billowing dry ice. And a lobster just sitting there, part of the presentation of the dish.

Upside down cutie.

Just seeing if you were paying attention.
Sea cucumber soup.

Actually that’s not what the soup was. It had sea cucumber in it but I don’t know what the soup was called.
Fish stomachs.

Yes. You read that right. Fish. Stomachs.
Then of course the cake. Fruity.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that Chinese cakes are fruitier.
And then there was also this.

The small buns have a sweet sort of custard substance in it. I asked my cousin what the big thing was supposed to be. I think he said it was supposed to resemble a peach. And I asked him what that word meant. And I’m sure he told me. But that was like Saturday, days ago. I cannot remember what it means. Actually I’m not that sure about the peach thing either. *Sigh*
Ok. Off to cook dinner.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, we went to the Oakland Museum. This has become a tradition for us. We went in 2008 and 2009. We probably would have gone last year too but I vaguely remember the museum being closed for renovations.
This year is the year of the rabbit.

So of course there was rabbit related crafting.

I really love how the Oakland museum has crafting for kids at these things. Of course Nathan is too young so he hung out with Alan while me and Isabelle made rabbity things.

And when we were done with the crafting we watched lions dance. Because a Lunar New Year celebration isn’t complete without lion dancing.

I know where we’ll likely be for next year’s Lunar New Year celebration. Have a good weekend and I’ll be back soon showing off a new dress I made. See you soon.
We were super busy today and I do not feel like editing any photos. So, instead I’m sharing some older photos that I never got around to.
For baby heads! Well, actually for one cute little baby head in particular, little Elliora.

The top one is a Stella pixie hat. You can find the pattern on Ravelry. The bottom one is an umbilical cord hat, my favorite baby hat pattern, from Stitch ‘N Bitch. In fact, I think I’m going to make another umbilical cord hat this weekend for Alan’s cousin’s new baby.
The focus on the bottom photo is off. Boo. That’s what happens when I rush to take pictures before sending them out. That is also the reason I only have these two photos of these two hats. I would have liked to take a photo of Nathan wearing the little pink hat. But rushing. I also forgot to write Bethany a note along with the package saying that both of the hats are machine washable. Did I ever email that to her?
Life of a distracted mom.
