How could I forget to write about this yesterday?! Nathan can hold his head up pretty good. Isabelle was weeks and weeks older before she was able to.

Given Up

You know, I think I’ve given up on trying to catch up on all that we’ve been doing. It’s just not possible. We’re doing too much to write about it all. It’s because Alan was on vacation so we’ve been out enjoying it.

And, yes, he did go back to work almost three weeks ago. So I should be able to write, right? But the answer is: nope. He’s off again until the new year for paid family leave. Well, at least we hope he’s getting paid. We’re waiting for it to be ok’d. So, see, there’s no chance of really catching up with all our comings and goings.

It’s not that we’re out all day and night. It’s that I’m too tired and distracted to write something proper. I sit down and my mind is a blank. At least I have been trying to upload all the photos to my flickr stream even if I never write about it.

A perfect example: last month we joined my sister at Pier 39. Well, it’s taken me this long just to get the pictures up.

I haven’t been to Pier 39 in at least ten years. We went on a weekend. What were we thinking? It was crowded. The last time we went, it was dead, must have been a weekday.

We went down there to check out the Aquarium of the Bay and to let the kids play with each other. We thought it might be similar to the Monterey Bay Aquarium which Isabelle enjoyed so much. Well, the Aquarium of the Bay was teeny tiny. I mean ridiculously tiny but look at the pretty jellyfish.

Well, at least the kids had fun together.

And see, now my mind is a blank again, so I’ll stop boring you here. I’ll just leave you with two pictures. One of Isabelle holding her nose because it was sooooo insanely stinky.
"It stinks"

Stinky because of all the sea lions.

Bethany Can Read My Mind

I know I’ve given up on catching up but while looking through some older pictures on my Flickr stream I came across these.

When Nathan was born, Bethany sent us some little gifts.
Crazy eyes

She can totally read my mind or our minds. Because I swear a few days before the little cupcake and alien guy came in the mail, Isabelle was flipping through our crochet books and asked for a little cupcake. I kid you not.

And she also sent us a tiny little kite. How did she know our love for kites? We have a small collection of kites that we can’t get to fly, or I should say rarely. Why do kites not fly for us? Is there a knack to kite flying that we obviously don’t have?

At the earliest opportunity, when Nathan was just weeks old, we brought the tiny kite to a school playground to try it out.

Hello in there

And it flew!

How did she know to get us a kite that we could actually get off the ground? She MUST be able to read my mind. :-D

Thank you again Bethany!!

Reindeer pancake
We made reindeer pancakes! It’s a whole holiday pancake mold set from Williams-Sonoma. I’m such a sucker for stuff like this.
