Me: Come here Isabelle.
Come take a picture Isabelle

Isabelle: Hmmm? What?
Hmmm? What?

Me: I said come take pictures.

Isabelle: Ok, mama, here I come.
Ok, mama, here I come

Me: Not back there.

Isabelle: Ha ha ha!
Not back there

Then Alan grabs her and brings her up front.

Isabelle: Mama, my panties are crooked.
My panties are crooked mama

Me: Ha ha ha! Did she say her panties are crooked?
Ha ha did she say her panties are crooked?

So I fix them.

Me: Ok let’s try the picture again.

Isabelle: No.
Let's try a picture again. No.

So, that’s all the pictures we got and I don’t know which to choose as our monthly family photo. Alan says the last one. :)

Oh forgot to share the belly shot.

Painting Pottery and Pregnancy Brain

Ok this is pathetic, it’s pregnancy brain. I was telling my friend, Olinda, this: the other day we got some paper things in the mail. You know, it’s spam but in the mail and it’s paper. What’s it called? Oh yeah JUNK MAIL.

How crazy is that?! I couldn’t remember the word for junk mail. I described it as spam. SPAM!

Ok anyhoo. We got some junk mail and Isabelle was looking through it. She saw some page with a piggy bank on it and wanted a piggy bank. She asked for days so I thought we’d buy her one. Then I thought, even better, instead of buying a piggy bank, we could go and paint a piggy bank at a pottery studio.

So, that’s what we did on Saturday. We went to a pottery studio and let Isabelle paint a piggy. She was really into it, concentrating really hard.
Love how she's concentrating so hard

It’s been over a year since we last tried painting pottery. And this time she didn’t lose interest and walk away. She actually painted the entire piggy.
Isabelle's piggy bank

And this time, I painted too, my first time. I sketched out an idea and then tossed that out. Now looking at this picture I wish I hadn’t started over.
Tossed out first idea

It took me so long to think of something new and draw it out, I think Isabelle actually finished painting her piggy before I even started. So long that she started painting with my colors over what she had already painted.

It was so much fun. Now just to see how they turn out once they’re fired. I couldn’t remember the word for that either at first. I told Isabelle they had to be baked.
Painted and ready for the kiln

I hope they turn out ok. When refilling the colors I had a hard time remembering what colors I chose but I think I got them all right. Pregnancy brain again?

Where’s My Piggy?

Where's my piggy?

You know, one of the things I didn’t think about when we went painting pottery was, Isabelle would want to take her piggy home right away. She’s been asking and asking for it. I guess she doesn’t have any concept of what “next week” is.

That Cat is a Bad Influence

Thank you for the suggestions on counting down days for Isabelle’s piggy. I loved the idea. I was going to make a bunch of tear off piggies but she hasn’t asked for her piggy in days. And this is why:
Amigurumi cat

Bad kitty. Lazing about. Doing nothing.
Relaxing

And then teaching Isabelle to do flips on the bed.

That cat is a bad influence
Yes. FLIPS. ON. THE. BED. Isabelle was flipping her new kitty about telling me how he likes to flip and jump. Then she proceeded to show me by tossing him in the air and doing flips on the bed at the same time. In her glasses! Tempting fate to have them break again. Ok, she wasn’t doing back flips like in the drawing. Forward flips, but still.

Bad, bad kitty!

Hee, heee. Seriously though, how cute is the amigurumi kitty?! I have the Japanese Craft book ISBN-10: 4391130122, ISBN-13: 9784391130126. But I didn’t think I would ever make him because I couldn’t figure out how to crochet. And, plus, trying to figure out how to follow the Japanese directions?! Get outta here.

Well luckily for me, the author made an English translation so I didn’t have to try to figure out the Japanese directions. One day, though, I’d like to figure it out.

You know, at one point, I didn’t know if he was going to get finished. Remember how Isabelle was running off with alien parts? Well, she did that with the kitty too. So, I couldn’t find one of his arms for quite a while. Also, Isabelle ran off with him when I connected his head to his body. She started playing with him and didn’t want to give him up.

But everything worked out fine in the end. I found his arm and Isabelle gave him up for little bits of time so I could add his limbs little by little. He’s not perfect but he is done! Yay! Yay! Yay!
I love my kitty, mommy

Thinking About

Thinking about cutting my hair
We’ve had an Ikea weekend and we picked up our pottery. I have pictures but I haven’t gone through them. That’s because all I can think about is cutting my hair. I’m thinking shorter with bangs, like a bob. But then I’m worried that it’ll be too short to put up during labor. And is that kind of haircut flattering for my face? I don’t even know. But I keep thinking about it.

I just asked Alan if he could cut my hair like that. But it would probably be smarter to go to a hairstylist, huh?
