Bite My Shiny Metal Ass, Sleeping Alone

I’ll start with bite my shiny metal ass or in this case, bite my soft fuzzy non-metallic ass. I crocheted a Bender robot.
Crochet Bender

The plan was to make a robot for my nephew, Ebow. I don’t even know if he wants a robot doll. But I’ve been itching to crochet. So, when I found a Bender crochet pattern out there, I just used what I had, which was white. Because seriously, I was that impatient to crochet.

And I guess it doesn’t really matter what color he is, Ebow doesn’t know what Futurama is. He won’t notice what’s wrong with him, like his wonky little mouth. I’m obviously not good with embroidering on crochet. I had issues with the thread. That’s why the door on his body, is done in yarn.

Maybe Bender won’t even ever get to see Ebow because Isabelle has taken possesion of him. She’s been dragging him everywhere, throwing him around and doing flips with him, just like with the kitty. Maybe he’ll get so dirty he’ll become gray. Eeeewww!

And I tried to have Isabelle sit still and take a picture of him so you can see his actual size. But this is all I could get that day.

I had better luck, the night I finished him, with my cell phone camera.

And onto a different subject, our sleeping arrangements or bite my shiny metal ass, sleeping alone. Because that’s basically how it went.
Second night of trying to sleep separately

We moved Isabelle’s bed right next to ours and tried again last night but it didn’t happen. No sleeping on her own. She was laying there and started sniffling. Her and Alan were talking quietly and I don’t know what they were saying. Then Isabelle climbed over Alan towards me and I don’t know what she was saying but she was crying and basically didn’t want to sleep in her own bed. I guess we’ll try again tonight but I doubt she’ll go for it. In fact, she walked over and saw my drawing and said, I don’t want to sleep in my own bed because I love you and want milk.

So yeah, we’ll see how it goes.

  1. We’ve co-slept with Maya pretty much her whole life. When she was 18 months we bought an ikea toddler bed and put it at the foot of our bed. She’s almost 3 now and still sleeps with us sometimes. If she’s sick or we go out of town she insists on sleeping with us and then keeps doing it for a long time until we can get her back in her little bed. Anyway, it’s a process. Our little ones won’t sleep with us forever, I hope it doesn’t stress you out too much.

  2. It is a process and it might take a VERY long time. Marie slept with me since she was 6 mos old and she stopped when she was about 11 or 12 years old. They will not sleep with you forever, but they might sleep with you until they hit teenage years when they want their privacy, like mine did. :) So, be patient….it will happen and then you wouldn’t want it to happen. :)

  3. You are giving me hope that I actually will learn to crochet some day!

I’m sorry little Isabelle is having a hard time. Maybe she just isn’t ready yet. Is she used to sleeping on Alan’s side or used to sleeping next to you? Maybe she would have an easier time if you were next to her? But I know that is hard when you are pregnant!

Anyway, don’t take sleep advice from me. We still lie down with the kids (in their beds) each night while they fall asleep. I tried for a long time to sit besides my older one’s bed, but it was taking him way too long to fall asleep and I eventually gave up. :)

  4. This robot is by far my absolute favorite of all the ones crocheted by you thus far. I didn’t know it was from Futurama. I don’t watch t.v.

  5. I LOVE HIM!!!!

  6. your bender robot is adorable. you could market that.
