Baby Names

We’ve been thinking of baby names. Alan latches onto some silly ones like Jebediah or Ezekiel. Sure they’re names. You might even know some very nice people with those names. But I don’t want to name our little boy Jebediah or Ezekiel. Or Junior. Alan was kicking around Junior. Not Alan Jr. Just Junior. He’s just being silly.

Or Elvis. You should have seen the big crazy smile Alan cracked when I read out that name. You may remember Alan and his thing with Elvis. The other week or month or I can’t remember when, he was telling me how the Elvis neighbor was dressed like Elvis. DRESSED!! So maybe he’s an impersonator. And I think Alan said the Elvis neighbor was having a party and they all looked like Elvis. Should have seen how gleefully he related that information.

But anyhoo, baby names. Maybe that’s where Isabelle gets her ideas from: daddy.

Bubble Skirt Failure

For some reason I was inspired to try to make a bubble skirt for Isabelle. Without a pattern. I don’t even own a bubble skirt so don’t really know how they come together. My sister has quite a few and maybe it was when I saw her last that made me want to try. Well here it is, or was, the big failure.
Failed attempt at bubble skirt

It’s not bubbly enough, not at all. It just looks like a regular old skirt. All that sewing for naught. I obviously didn’t use enough fabric. Well, to be accurate, I really didn’t have enough fabric to start with. I’m using stuff from my stash. It just wasn’t meant to be. I messed up way to many times on it, making it too long. I’m sure I measured multiple times. But I still somehow managed to make it too long, at least 3 times.

I finally gave up and just put a traditional hem on it.

It’s still a little longer than I would like.
Didn't want to take a picture
But hey, that means Isabelle can wear it longer.

Another Month Older

Three years nine months family picture
Isabelle is now three years and nine months old. Well, to be exact she was actually that a little over a week ago. It has just taken me a while to post our monthly family picture. We did manage to take it mostly on time. Just two days late.

What are we going to do when the baby arrives? Take two monthly family pictures a month? Or just on the 12th since that’s when Isabelle was born? Or maybe we should do it on the date the baby is born since his growing will be most apparent his first year. OR maybe just maybe he’ll be born on Isabelle’s birthday and that will solve my problem right there. Not likely though, huh?

Well anyhoo, our monthly picture. We told Isabelle to sit down for it. We indicated the spot next to me. What did she do instead? Push her way in between us, the stinker.

And I like this shot:

Isabelle got too close to the tripod and we were worried she’d knock the camera over. Look at my eyes, aaaaah!!!

And how about a belly shot?

Maybe not the best top to show off the belly but there it is.

And now a completely random video of Isabelle dancing. Because I like watching her dance. It makes me happy. :)

Ok, now off to bed with me. It’s late, er I should say early. The birds are starting to sing.

Father’s Day

Sharing strawberry Pocky with daddy
I wasn’t going to post until after I had a full night’s sleep but I took a nap and got my second wind. I hope everyone had a nice Father’s day. We did, nice and relaxing except for things not going exactly as imagined.

We woke up early because someone texted Alan’s phone wishing him a happy Father’s day. That was very nice except I thought it was Alan’s alarm going off and so I hopped up and Isabelle grumpily did too. After Isabelle got over her grump we were raring to do something with Alan. But he kept on sleeping. But that was o.k. He should get to sleep in. And that meant I could make him breakfast in bed.

Only that didn’t turn out as expected. I had just finished cooking and I had gone out to pick a flower when Alan woke up and came stumbling out into the living room. So no breakfast in bed.
Yet another picture of the flower
It's a hydrangea

And then we didn’t really go anywhere special at all. We ran some errands and then Alan did some yard work while we hung out.
Hanging outside while daddy does scary yard work

Alan thought he was Spiderman, climbing up too tall ladders talking about cutting big branches off the dead/dying palm tree. He scared the bejesus out of me. It probably didn’t help that he kept joking how he was going to fall or how dangerous it was.
Too high!!

Even Isabelle scolded him, telling him to get down and that he was being a “naughty daddy”. We convinced him that trying to cut down the palm tree by himself was NOT a good idea, well for now.

At least something worked out mostly right, oatmeal raisin cookies. Isabelle helped me make them. I told her it was a surprise and to not tell daddy. I’m not sure she didn’t go tell Alan though, when I told her to go into the living room while I opened the oven. Oh well.

Balloon Smooshing

Smooshing a balloon
Isabelle smooshed the balloon so hard she changed it’s shape. Why isn’t she scared of popping it? And right now as I am typing this, she is attempting to stand on it!! Oh gawd, she’s managed! She’s stepping on it from one foot to the other!
