Hi everyone! Happy New Year! It’s been a little off here. I didn’t even get it together to send out holiday cards this year. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things, to post regularly but I am feeling out of practice. Is that weird? It’s only been a little over a week but it feels longer. I guess what contributes to this, out of sorts feeling, is that I haven’t been keeping up with my blog reading, I’ve been trying to avoid my website email, and we were actually without internet for a few days. And plus that was a whole different year ago.
I wish I had posted regularly, saving those cherished little moments here to read later. But now they are lost, casualties of my crap memory. I’ve been going through the pictures trying to remember those little tiny things but most of them are gone. For example looking at this picture, all I can think of is peppermint chocolates.
That’s right. Peppermint chocolates. This was taken at a friend’s party. Isabelle hadn’t eaten much if any real food. Towards the end of the night she saw me eating a yummy piece of peppermint chocolate. She tried a piece and LOVED it. She kept dragging me back to the room, saying “more”, and eating piece after piece.
Oh and this scarf. I made it ages ago, before Isabelle was even born. I didn’t even realize I had it. Have I ever taken a picture of it? It was one of my early knitting projects, a keyhole scarf. I remember I wanted to do the whole thing in a seed stitch but the going was slow so I changed to a rib stitch. Well anyhoo, one night we went to watch a drive in movie, we all dressed up warm, and I just grabbed a scarf for Isabelle, this scarf. It’s now her favorite accessory. She loves it. At the party, she did not want to take it off for the longest time.
Ok more posts to come and hoping to catch up with everyone soon. Right now I’m missing the movie we rented.
Ok let’s catch up on something non Isabelle related, since last month was pretty much all about Isabelle. How about some sewing from ISBN 4579111494?! Remember the little peek of the shirt/dress? Well here it is finally, the whole thing, finished. That peek was almost a month ago! Wow I’m sooo out of it. It’s taken quite a long time to get a picture of me wearing it.
So I ended up altering the pattern just a little. I didn’t shorten it but I took in the sides a teensy bit around the waist so it wouldn’t be so sack like. I don’t know how this is usually done. I just winged it. I’m sure there is a better way of doing this because the way I did it makes the fabric pull a little strangely where I altered it. But I’m quite happy with it. That’s why I made it again. That’s right. Another incarnation of this pattern, shortened and the waist unaltered. But I don’t have a good picture yet. I’ll get around to it eventually…maybe next month. In fact I still have a few projects that need pictures taken. Yipes how did it all get away from me?
So, what to sew next? I’m thinking about one of these next three projects. They’re all from ISBN 4579111494 as well.
Ok. I’m getting back into the rhythm of blogging now. I actually took pictures today! Here’s the felt dinosaur (I have a very large head and I have very small arms. Love that line from Meet the Robinsons) from earlier. The pattern is from 0307345416. I used felt from my stash. I wish I had paid attention to the felt I bought. The darker green was either some wool felt or anti pill felt from a bolt. The lighter green wasn’t the same and you can tell he’s pilling up. Well at least he’s finished! Or I should say he has been finished for a while but I didn’t want to share pictures of him because he was a present.
Yes WAS a present but isn’t anymore. He was supposed to be for my nephew Ebow. But then my sister said that she didn’t want anymore clutter in her life, didn’t want to feel guilty about throwing away something I made, so didn’t want Christmas presents this year. That worked out great for Isabelle because she kept wanting to play with him. She recognized that he was a dinosaur right away. He wasn’t even finished when she grabbed him saying, “dine. RAaawwrr!” And look! I have video of her playing with the dinosaur.
You can hear the little monkey noises she makes now. Yes, our little monkey, climbing and jumping off of everything. She must have gotten the noises from Curious George. She loves Curious George! Oh my god, have I told you that she wakes up and asks for George? Yesterday she even did it IN HER SLEEP. I was laying there and I hear “George“. I look over, I kid you not, and her freaking eyes were closed! So yeah. Go look at the video of her making her dinosaur and monkey noises.
And this was also a present not to be. It’s the sewing I kept procrastinating with.
Well actually only the blue and white, Amy Butler belle, fabric. It was destined to become a present. I was going to make a dress for a niece but that never happened. But again, Isabelle benefits. She has a nice new dress now (pictures to come). Oh and the Amy Butler lotus wall flower green fabric is for me. I don’t know what I’m going to make with it but IT’S MINE! Mine bwa ha ha ha!
What do I want to remember from Christmas Eve? One is that I got to play with the Wii. Have you ever played with the Wii? It is so much fun! Alan said I hogged it. Why yes, YES I did, but only for a little bit. I was boxing, diving to hit tennis balls, lassoing, and shooting carrot juice at bunnies. The next day my arms were soooo sore. Then Alan tells me I didn’t have to play all crazy.
I could have sat there sedately and gave tiny jabs and hits. Yeah…why didn’t he tell me that while I was playing all crazy. In one of the dives I actually bruised my shoulder banging against a nightstand and then in another dive I landed weird and now my left ankle clicks when I rotate my foot. Should I be worried?
And what was Isabelle doing?
Having a great old time with her cousins, playing, running around, crying over being hugged, and trying to share her Curious George.
Another video?! So soon? It’s unheard of!
Well that’s because the other day, when I put the dinosaur post up, I was watching this ice-cream video on the same tape. I’ve been meaning to put it up for a while. So seeing how I was already downloading I just kept going. Smart thinking…finally.
So here it is, the Isabelle NOT sharing ice-cream video. I love how she doesn’t like messes and is wanting to be cleaned up. It’s so funny because she is such a messy baby.
