Isabelle running around the kitchen as we’re looking for birthday candles. Because I said, it’s not birthday cake without birthday candles.

As we’re searching in vain hearing, “Gimme!”

“Cake!!”

“Pease.”

And when that didn’t give her the result she wanted, Isabelle pushed a chair up to the cake to help herself. Thinking of that has been making me smile for days. What am I talking about, I’m still smiling.

I have had the book, Sock and Glove, sitting around for a while. I briefly flipped through it then set it aside. Well last night I finally made something from it, a sock dog!!

His face isn’t quite right. It doesn’t look like the one in the book. My sock dog’s face is more squarish and his ears stick up like he’s constantly surprised. (I pushed his ears down for the pictures)

But Isabelle doesn’t mind. She sees him and says, woof woof!

This is dress 6 from ISBN 4418061371. Even at the smallest size, 100cm, it’s too big for Isabelle. I made it knowing that, so I don’t know why I was so bummed when it didn’t fit. I wish I had used a different fabric. A striped fabric would have shown off the design way better. But I didn’t have any striped fabric and I was in the mood to sew. And when the sewing mood strikes in the middle of the night, you use what you have. In this case I had plenty of this cute clothes on the line fabric.

Maybe I will try to figure out how to make a smaller version, in some stripey fabric, and actually correct the mistakes I made. Like the neckline. I did the facing all wrong and then didn’t fix it. I don’t know what I was thinking. And the front bottom piece was supposed to be one uncut piece. But I couldn’t quite tell that from the directions and once you’ve cut the fabric you can’t very well uncut it. Oh well. This post will be my reminder when I try this dress again.

Oh and on a completely different subject. I’m trying something out. All the pictures from this post are on flickr. Did anyone notice if it took longer to load?

I was in the mood for ice cream. And the last time we had ice cream I shared with Isabelle. A lick for me. A lick for Isabelle. “Mama’s turn, Isabelle’s turn, mama’s turn, Isabelle’s turn.” Then I had this brilliant idea! Instead of sharing one ice cream cone why not have a whole ice cream to MYSELF and Isabelle could have her own. Great idea, right? I thought so. Well….not so much.

Isabelle ended up with both of the cones and wouldn’t give me any! No sharing with mama!! That’s what I get for being greedy and wanting a whole ice cream to myself.

I actually have video of it. I’ll have to post it when I ummm find my cord.

Isabelle turned another month older. And I’m late with the pictures again. I keep forgetting to write down things I want to remember. But there are always the pictures.

Being silly. Insisting on wearing a hat AND a bib. Isabelle rarely ever wears bibs. But for some reason she felt like getting all “dressed up” that day. My weird little girl.

Another animal from the book Sock and Glove, this time a cat. They’re so easy to make. At least I think they are. But Alan said I worked on them for hours. Really? The time just flew by. I couldn’t have been working on them for hours…I don’t think.

I wanted his head rounder. Round and fat. But it came out long and skinny. Oh well. Isabelle knows it’s a cat. What noise does a cat make Isabelle? Meeeam, meeeam!

Oooh and some gloves soon to be some other animals. But first I’m going to wrastle a seahorse, like the way I wrastled the octopus.

I’ve been trying to draw in my sketchbook more. Working on the computer all the time, I miss the texture of paper.

I love this little sketch. I think it wants to be a painting.
