drawing of me teaching Isabelle the word sucker
How many times has she said sucker since I uttered it oh so quietly? Ummm…I think 3 times. Whenever I relay that story she jubilantly yells it with arms raised.

Love Watching Her Play

I can remember when Isabelle was just this little bundle of baby who just lay there. And now she plays and imagines. It blows my mind. I know we all did it. I know other kids do it but it still amazes me.
Isabelle playing with toy car
She got these little toy camping people for her birthday. Alan put them in their sleeping bags and she put her finger to her lips, said “shhhh”, and then lay down next to them to pretend sleep. And tonight she made me kiss them as they were sleeping in their sleeping bags.

Isabelle playing with tea set
She also got a little tea set. We sit there pretending to eat cake and drink tea. We stir our milk and sugar in and make chomping noises as we’re eating. Yum, yum, yum!

And sometimes we wear hats. I’m sure you’ve seen a picture or two of Isabelle with this bucket on her head. Well lately she LOVES wearing it. On Saturday she didn’t want to take it off. Not even when we went out to eat. We sat in the outside dining area of the restaurant and there she was in her little bucket, people commenting how they liked her “hat”. She didn’t even want to take it off though it was warm and her little head was getting all sweaty.

And, oh no, just her wearing a hat isn’t enough. She wants everyone to wear hats! Maybe that’s why the other night I came to a silly realization as I was videotaping her dancing around. She was wearing a onesie but had made me dress her in her shoes, pants, a dress, and a hat. I was thinking how cute and silly she was being. That’s when I noticed, that while I was thinking about how silly she was wearing her hat, I was wearing this big ass sombrero on my head. God knows how long I had it on. :) Yes we must all wear hats!!

Simplicity 3750 Again

Top 3750
I’ve been meaning to write about how I tried Simplicity 3750 again. Still needs work. I understood the suggestions on how to alter it or I thought I did. But I’ve never made alterations before so changing the pattern didn’t go as expected. When I changed the pieces they no longer lined up properly for sewing, weird angles and whatnot. So I tinkered and tinkered on muslin and then just gave up. I was itching to work with my real fabric and foolishly was determined to wear it to Isabelle’s birthday party. So that’s how I ended up with this.

It’s an improvement from the muslin but could be better. Ahhh so goes the way of most rushed projects.

And now onto something else completely different. More silly “hat” wearing. Plus daddy shoe wearing.

Cute Baby #15, Feeding Mama

drawing of feeding me boogies
Sometimes when Isabelle wakes up I pretend to be asleep in the hopes that she’ll fall back asleep. Well the other day as I was laying there pretending, eyes closed, I felt her stick her finger on my lips. She was mashing something into my lips, trying to get it into my mouth. I opened my eyes and took the something off of my mouth. I don’t know what it was. It was little and hard, a bumpy thing.

Do you think it was a booger? Do you think she woke up and rubbed her nose and a dried up little booger was there and she plucked it up and tried to stick it in my mouth? Do ya? She’s been sick and sniffly. It could have been a dried up booger. I can’t think what else it might have been. Aaaah!! A booger! A booger I say!! She tried to feed me a booger!!

Have a good booger free weekend everyone!

Japanese fabric
I got my first ever Japanese fabric!! Happy happy happy!! (Actually I got it about the same time as the hussy but only took pictures today)

And I did some bloggy stuff. That’s why I’ve been scarce around the internets. When I’m in research mode I don’t keep up with email or blog reading much. Yes oh so boring bloggy stuff. It makes me happy when I figure out something for my blog. And if you don’t want to read the boring bloggy stuff about gallery pages, stop reading here and enjoy this happy dance inspired by the way Isabelle dances.

Japanese fabric
You’re still reading? So, interested in the bloggy stuff huh? Ok. So seeing as you’re interested I’ll keep talking. Er, you know what I mean. You’ll keep reading…

So anyhoo, I figured out how to use WordPress to make a gallery of my unfinished and finished projects! No, that one exclamation point is too calm. It doesn’t convey how happy this makes me. Imagine me jumping for joy. I CAN USE WORDPRESS FOR A GALLERY!

See, before I had to copy and paste and move cells around tables. I didn’t have an easy way to do it, especially since the new projects were on top. If my new projects were on bottom no problem, I could have added a new cell easily. But on top meant everything needed to shift. Do you get what a pain in the ass that was to do? To shift things to the right by one cell meaning with a three column gallery the third picture in the first row would become the first picture in the second column, oh god just talking about it is making me cringe. And not to mention that I needed to make a new project page for every new project. Yes thanks to my obsession with the nice and orderly on here.

Sorry went rambling on there for a bit. Are you still reading?! So figuring out how to make a gallery was a big thing. It involved figuring out how to make a category page for my “pictures” that looked different from the rest of my blog and used 3 columns. To make everything line up all the pictures needed to be the same height. So I had to make new thumbnails of some of them so they’re bigger than before. Then I had to hide that category from showing up in my dropdown category list. I also had to exclude those gallery posts from the other areas in my blog so you wouldn’t see it in the archives or single pages. Whoo I’m tired of typing. See how involved this was? Ok on I go. I had to figure out how to make the previous and next navigation still work while skipping the gallery category. And I utilized the new tags system that WordPress has to link each project with all related posts. Oh the one thing I couldn’t figure out is how to exclude the gallery posts from my feed. But that’s ok. I’m ecstatic about the rest.

So what does that mean basically? Well, now when I have a new project for the gallery everything is automated. I just write a new post, check the box for which gallery I want, and I’m done. DONE! See why that deserves a happy dance?

Wow you got all the way to the end? Ok well just for that here’s a picture of Isabelle, eating ice-cream. Another happy happy happy for me.
