I’ve been trying not to spend a lot of money lately. I don’t know about you but with us this usually leads to a breakdown. A breakdown in where we spend loads of money on something absolutely for pleasure which is the furthest thing from a necessity as possible. And in this case it was a hussy. Or that’s what I kept thinking it was called.

It’s actually a HUSKYlock, not a Hussylock. I am a dork. It’s a serger!! FOR ME!! I think I need to draw a new happy dance for that. Later.

Anyhoo, and what’s the first thing I made with it? Something for Isabelle of course! It’s based on dress C-3 from this Japanese book, ISBN 4776203219. I think I was supposed to use some kind of rope, cording, or something for the straps and for decoration. But I didn’t have any. And I wanted to sew so badly and try out the new serger that I just went ahead with my own version.

It was supposed to be for Isabelle’s party. It has the cutest pigs on it and says worn out. I thought it would have been so adorable, her all worn out from her party taking a nap in it. But wouldn’t you know it. Too big. I swear I think she’s bigger than she is. Oh well, she’ll grow into it.

I’m finally recapping Isabelle’s birthday party. We still don’t have the throwing a party thing down yet. Alan was sooooo stressed that morning. And it didn’t help that people were in our reserved area again just like last year. He blew up at them and told them to leave after they said there was no reservation sign (which there was) and that we should have arrived earlier if we had reserved it.

Besides that rocky start, I think it went better this time around. It was less tiring since Isabelle can walk now and doesn’t need to be carried everywhere like she did last year. And we didn’t go overboard with the food so Alan wasn’t stuck in front of the barbecue grill all day.

Even though Alan wasn’t in front of the grill all day he did miss the cutest thing. Isabelle’s cousin was sitting in my lap crying. And Isabelle was trying to console her! She kept patting her on the shoulder saying ok? I wish I had that on camera. It was so sweet. Ok, onto the pictures.

Isabelle got a backpack from my dad. She wore that thing for HOURS. She cried when we took it off her to put her in the carseat for the drive home. She wore it when she got home. She wore it the next day. In fact you can see she’s wearing it in our family photo.

We went swimming. Isabelle held on tight in the beginning but then loosened up a little. Alan even dunked her under the water a few times!

Isabelle would not let my mom hold her. The only time was when she didn’t know any better and was asleep. Ha!

And after Elmo was all clean she kept hugging him saying Elmo, Elmo. She likes her Elmo. And that’s why I didn’t have the heart to let them break open the Elmo pinata.

And that was Isabelle’s second birthday party. Wonder what we’ll be doing next year.

Last month I figured out how to change my headers based on date. And last night I finally put it to use on my blog. I know that doesn’t mean much to you but I was so excited. So excited I made Alan sit down and click through my archives. You can see all my old headers just the way they were way back when. It was one of the last things I wanted to fix when I moved over from Blogger. And the solution is so much easier than the way I used to do it too! Yes boring boring blah blah for you but it makes me happy, so a happy dance it is! (a weird little happy dance that was scrawled out super quick and now I realize that skirt is too short but who cares if it’s not accurate. I don’t really dance like that. I just like drawing weird funny little dances.)

Ha ha a new video!! Watch here (Quicktime 3.5 Mb), Isabelle dancing. I sped up the last bit of it because do you really want to sit through all that dancing? We do of course but we thought we’d spare everyone else.

Or also called mischievous monkey month. Yes our Isabelle has been replaced by a monkey. A monkey who climbs up high.

And puts stickers all over herself. And on mama’s butt (pictures not included).

And shows the dogs who is boss.

And sits there methodically making a mess.

And oh in this picture, the mischievous smile? She just kicked daddy.

Tomorrow (I shouldn’t be promising something I might not be able to deliver so scratch the tomorrow and replace it with soon) expect a VIDEO!! I finally broke down and bought a new cable so I can actually get videos on here again!! And what do you have to look forward to? Monkey likes to dance.

We’ve been so busy that we didn’t even realize that we didn’t take our monthly family picture. And yes for the big two year old birthday! Thankfully Trixie asked where it was. I was just going to use this one as our monthly family picture. It’s from Isabelle’s birthday party. But I just realized as I was going through the rest of the monthly pictures that it doesn’t match, vertical vs horizontal. So now being totally nit picky we will be taking our family pictures like usual. And then I thought oh I need to talk about her party too. And what started as a quick post that wouldn’t take up much time is going to be so much more involved…I have 431 pictures to go through. YIKES! Ok so off I go.

Just a quick post to say Isabelle turns two years old today! At midnight this morning I baked two dozen cupcakes because I’m crazy. She only had one.

I couldn’t decide whether or not to make chocolate or yellow cupcakes so made both. Who the hell is going to eat all these cupcakes?!

And her birthday present. Isabelle loves playing with her real stroller so last night we went down to Target, opened up a toy stroller for her, and she happily strolled around the store. It was so cute. She would not let it go, in fact started crying when we took it away to bring it into the car. Maybe she thought she had to leave it at the store?

Ok we’re off to the park now.

I might be scarce around the internets this week and next. Alan is on vacation and we have Isabelle’s birthday party coming up.
