Gardening
Today I was planning to take pictures of Isabelle in the backyard wearing her newly finished circle skirt. But before we could go out, she fell asleep. Yes, fell asleep unexpectedly. She was sitting in my lap nursing and I look down and she was out! So no pictures of her new skirt. Instead here are pictures from the weekend. Alan was putting in new plants. Yes, gardening or in our case, let’s see how long it takes for this stuff to die.

We’ve been going out there these past few days to water them. The temperature here has been around 100 so we’ve been giving them a cooling shower at the end of the day. One of the new plants is called Dragon’s Breath. Alan liked the plant and in his words, come on, you HAVE to get a plant called Dragon’s Breath!! I think it’s holding up good, along with all of the other plants Alan chose. Mine on the other hand are not faring so well. He doesn’t think the ones I chose are going to make it, it’s a conspiracy I tell ya!

This post is entirely for my sake, to keep a record of when we planted the new plants. Otherwise how would I know that it’s been almost three years since we’ve done anything to the backyard. THREE YEARS HONEY!! (That last remark is to my honey, Alan, not the internets)

Love the second picture of Isabelle and the dog. At our house, we no longer even try buying basil plants because Seth gets too disappointed that they die. I have about a 1-in-5 track record, I’d say, with outdoor plants. The thing is (I think) that you have to keep putting in new ones where the old ones die, before the weeds can take hold. Anyway, we do have a thyme plant but it’s still indoors as of this moment (and it’s raining so even though I have the day off, I think it’s staying inside).

This is the story of my life. I have such a black thumb. We were inspired, after buying our house, to plant some azaleas. A dozen on each side of the house. We got the azaleas on one side in the ground the first day or two. the other 12 sat on the deck in their pots for another month or so. Unwatered. Hot sun. Is it any wonder only two of them actually grew?

Yeah, I’m not so hot with the gardening either. I planted 20 strawberry seedlings…they all died. Planted a hydrangea bush…it’s still tiny and hasn’t done a thing. Planted some herbs in little pots on my kitchen window…they all died and I chunked the whole thing. I have a brown thumb. Good thing my daughter is a person and not a plant!
Can’t wait to see the new circle skirt when the little one calms down enough to model it! Or wakes up enough.

Oh darn. I thought you were calling us Honey! He He.
Now then, whats with the lagging on the garden? It’s not like you have had anything to keep you busy *wink*
Thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for your lovely plants. Hugs!
