Snake Quilt Finished FINALLY

This is what I’ve been madly sewing away at, Alan’s snake quilt. It has been sitting unfinished for so long. I just found old pictures. They were dated 2003 so it’s been at least four years. FOUR YEARS!! How crazy is that?? I recently pulled it out and it’s been sitting on the couch just staring at me. So I started quilting what was left. I think I originally stopped because I ran out of thread and when I bought some more I just didn’t pick up where I left off. Well it happened again. I ran out of thread but this time I didn’t stop. I went immediately to buy more thread and then just kept on sewing. I didn’t want it to sit unfinished for another four years.

The design is from K.P Kids & Co. There are supposed to be black buttons for the eyes but I don’t want to put them on. It’s more comfortable without buttons on it.

And here is the backing.

Ok let me just do a happy dance that this is finally finished! Now I’m off to sew an octopus.

So did anyone catch in my last post that I said I was going to sew an octopus? SEW AN OCTOPUS!! Don’t you know I go deep sea diving and catch octopi and drag them home and sew them up. And yes that’s wrastling I do. You have to say it that way. I don’t wrestle octopi. I WRASTLE them.

I’ll show you the picture tomorrow.

Ollie, the Octopus

Here he is!! The big dangerous fellow I wrastled with. Fear him, fear him!! Ok, so I exaggerated, or you could say I like telling stories…ok I lied. I don’t go deep sea diving. I don’t catch octopi and drag them home. BUT B. U. T. T. (hee hee I wrote butt. I’m keeping it) BUT I did sew him up!! He’s a wonderful pattern from Alice at futuregirl.com. I’ve named him Ollie. Ollie, the octopus.

Oh yeah and did I mention maybe that he isn’t so big that he sits on my lap like I depicted him yesterday. He’s not that big hulking creature but a sweet little guy who likes to sit by my computer. He’s about three inches tall.

He sits there staring at me and whenever I look at him I pat his tiny little head. And he oh so enjoys it. He wiggles his tentacles in glee. That’s his favorite spot and when I pick him up he reaches his tentacles down trying to hold onto the table.

When he’s not sitting by my computer he likes sitting on heads as you can see in the picture below and also this picture.

So back to what I was saying. Alice will be selling the pattern for him on her blog. You have probably seen her Octophrost and the one and only Sigmund who I absolutely fell in love with. Well Alice asked me to test the pattern out. Her directions were so easy to follow and now I have my own little octopus!! I was telling her how happy he makes me. I’m all giddy happy and I kept saying to Alan did you see my octopus? And he’s like yes dear I already saw your octopus.

How cool is he?!?!?! And soon everyone can make their own little octopus friend.

Month Seventeen with Isabelle

Isabelle turned seventeen months old a few days ago. You know, every day we comment to each other how amazing and beautiful Isabelle is. We love her so much.

She makes us laugh. She is so silly and sweet. We don’t even mind that sometimes she tries to put food between her toes.

I love how she takes the ordinary and has so much fun with it. Like stomping around and putting on and pulling off one of Alan’s hats. Who knew something so mundane could be so fun.

I love all the moments with her, the loud noisy ones and especially the quiet ones where she comes over and sits in my lap with a book. Even when it’s a book she’s tore to pieces.

Lately she is doing all sorts of new things. Like how she won’t stay out of the dog crate. Or how she figured out how to get off of our very tall bed. She lowers herself down on the side where there is a footstool. And she’s figured out how to get up on the bed too. She does this by first standing on the footstool and then climbing onto the glider, then onto the bed. She seems to be doing so many new things I can’t possibly remember them all. But they all make me so proud. Yes even the sitting in the dog crate…funny, silly girl.

(Oh and doesn’t my hair look a little wild? I used a new shampoo that’s supposed to be anti-poof. Don’t think it worked. Huh?)

Read month sixteen.

Posted in: Oops Didn't I Choose?

I’ve been ‘tagged’! by my Tina to do ’5 things’.
The rules are as follows:
1. someone tags you,
2. you post five things about yourself that you haven’t already mentioned on your blog,
3. you tag people you’d like to know more about.

Ok so five things about me:

1. I feel so self conscious doing these meme things. Which is stupid considering hello this blog is about my life. I think I will not do anymore after this. What a party pooper I am.

2. Wow I cannot think of a single thing to say. I’ve been thinking about it since I’ve been tagged and not one thought will come into my head. I just asked Alan could he think of something. And you know what he said? He said write down I used to be a man. Ha ha ha! There you go. Have I ever mentioned that Alan has the most wonderful sense of humor. He always makes me laugh. We just had this whole conversation: He said I dare you to write that down. And I told him I did. Because I did. So I told him to think of some more things. And he replies well if you’re going to lie you can write down all sorts of crazy things like you’re a rodeo clown. Hee hee!

3. Oh here’s something totally random that I just thought of. I like watching Charlie and Lola. My sister mentioned how much she liked it. So one day I watched it. And I really really like it. I mean REALLY LIKE IT. I have actually contemplated whether or not to record them so I will not miss it. Not for Isabelle but for ME! ME!!!

4. Oh here’s something else I just thought of. When I was little my dad was backing out of the driveway and I purposefully stuck my foot out under the tire. Not my whole foot luckily because I’m sure something would have broken but I know a part of it went under the tire because I remember it hurting a hell of a lot. Why did I do it? Because I thought the car didn’t look very heavy and I wanted to see.

5. Ooh number five. What other random thing will pop into my head? Oh here’s something. I really liked art when I was little. And when I entered high school I wanted to become an animator. But somewhere during high school, a bad art teacher I think, I lost all interest in art. I stopped drawing completely. Then in college I was going to get a business degree. I took an art class to fulfill some requirement and enjoyed it very much. It wasn’t until I took a management class that I knew for sure that business wasn’t the way I wanted to go. But I couldn’t shake it off, that high school art experience. I wasn’t as interested in it as I am now and I really struggled to finish school. But finish I did. It wasn’t until these past few years that the love of creating has really come back.

And yay I am finished with this meme!! I will not be tagging anyone. I had such a hard time thinking of things to write.

and like how I tried to hide this post by writing a new post about Isabelle. If you’re subscribed of course you’ll see this but if you read from just my web page maybe you’ll miss it which is fine by me. Yeah #1 on my list. I’m so self conscious about these things.
