Any Tips for a Cleaning Fool?
Posted in: Illustrations

I’ve been a cleaning fool this past weekend. Alan had a weekend without us in Bakersfield for a paintball tournament. So I thought I would surprise him with a nice clean house. I mopped all the floors. And when I finished the last room, the bathroom, I was so proud.
Me and Isabelle went down for a nap and when she woke up, the floor was nice and dry. I stood there and admired the cleanliness. I then went to pour out the dirty bucket and…MISSED. It all went onto the nice clean floor. Sooo stupid! I had to soak up all the water, mop it again, and wait for it to dry AGAIN!
So I’ve been on this cleaning kick. I even tried the whole vinegar in your shower track thing and I HATE the smell of vinegar. Never again! The smell lingered for the longest time and even when it was gone I imagined it there. I hate it so much that next time I will go with nice smelling chemically stuff.
And since I’m on this cleaning kick, today we went to buy some more cleaning supplies. I have a friend who swears by the Swiffer Vac, raved about it. So I called her today asking if she had anymore cleaning tips. Like a better way to mop so one does not pour mop water all over their clean floor. Does anyone else have cleaning tips for this cleaning fool?

I wish I had some tips for you. I’m *thisclose* to hiring someone to do it. We’ve always had bad luck with cleaning people (the whole two times we’ve done it), but at this point, they couldn’t be worse than me.
Or could they?

I have the swiffer vac and like it. I am a gadget cleaner. We have a roomba and I love it because it can vacuum everything while I play with R or clean up the kitchen. My other gadget of choice is the hoover floormate that thing is amazing! It works for larger areas than a bathroom though. We have cork floors so I find that they need a good mopping at least 1/week if not more. I also love the grapefruit scented cleaner from method…
wow saying all that it sounds like I am more of a cleaning fool than in all actuality.

I’m not that into cleanliness myself, but the swiffer mop is AWESOME. Plus, no bucket and water to dump at the end.

I’m with Trixie but instead of that I bought the mop that goes with the orange glow cleaner. It’s a terry mop that you can toss in the washer and dryer and it really holds the dirt inside. I was happy with it and I don’t need a bucket anymore.
Cute blog by the way.

OMG!
WaWa was vaccuming and opened the canister right in front of me. Just as I was asking “what are you doing”, the canister jerked and the dust and dirt flew all over the living room floor! I was laughing so hard. He just stared at it. In between snorts I said “You pulled a Kuky!”
