Sometimes I’m at a loss as to what to feed Isabelle. It was so much easier when it was just exclusively breastfeeding. Now I worry about what unhealthy thing I’m giving her. THE PRESSURE! Sure I can eat junk. That’s my bad choice. But not my sweet precious baby.

I called my sister to see what she feeds Ebow for breakfast. Whatever my mom makes. He gets rice, vegetables, and meat. What do we eat for breakfast? Isabelle eats whatever I’m in the mood for. So it’s usually Cheerios. Alan doesn’t understand how I can eat the same thing over and over and over. I likes me Cheerios. Sometimes it’s waffles with syrup for me and plain for Isabelle. Yeah healthy…

What was it this morning? Cheese quesadillas. Mmmmm…the breakfast of champions. Ha! And why yes that is cheese on her forehead. Don’t ask. I don’t know.

So what to do? I like cooking. I guess I can make healthier food. So what would that be? Yeah I suck…the pressure…can’t my mommy just come and cook for us?

  1. I can’t even imagine trying to feed another human. I want to eat the exact same thing every night and Andrew doesn’t. We don’t always even eat the same thing. What a nightmare if we threw another picky eater into the mix.

It doesn’t sound like she’s picky, at least. :)

  2. We always had a varied breakfast menu growing up! Mostly leftovers. For long periods, we would get stuck in a rut and then *POW* we’d go crazy and jump into a whole new thing. My sister and I were often in competition to get up earliest and get the best breakfast. Last person up only had time for cereal. It worked well with lazy teenagers :)

  3. Scrambled eggs are easy. Does Isabelle like that? Ebow haaaaaates it but maybe Isabelle likes it. Yogurt is easy too. You can mash fruit in it.
Soups are soooooooooooper easy. Ebow looooooooves soup. Just toss meat veggies, grain in and turn on the heat. As soon as the water has some flavor, it’s done.
Good grains, such as bulger, barly, aramath, brown or white rice or pastas are good too. Oh, polenta or cornmeal cooked in either milk or broth is a winner too and easy. Add some grated cheese and oooooooooooh so yummy and oh so healthy too. Those are what I make when mom doesn’t cook. If you get a pressure cooker, you can cook sooooooo quickly too. To reduce gas, soak the beans with a tablespoon of fennel and discard the soaking water and rinse the beans prior to cooking. After boiling the beans, discard the water from the first boiling and rinse the beans again.
Rinse with cold water and cook the beans thoroughly.
Oooh, and soba noodles with miso soup is delicious. You can add tofu if she eats that.
    Now I’m hungry.

  4. Oh, you have to soak the beans at least 4 hours or overnight.
