I’ve been eagerly checking my mailbox on the lookout for this package. And it arrived yesterday!! It’s from vegasandvenice! Look at the cute labels!! Monster labels! I MEAN LOOK!! Aaah so cute!!

And what was inside? Matilda!! I opened the package and laughed my happy laugh, my cackle. That laugh you hear on the video when Isabelle crawls. Yeah I was so happy, I laughed that laugh.

Matilda is so darling. I can’t wait to play with the Shy Monsters coloring book and stickers and everything! Thank you so much vegasandvenice! Aren’t I the luckiest?!

Update:Isabelle was playing with Matilda today so I’m adding this picture. So cute!!

Hop, Skip & A Jump Quilt Blocks

I’ve been working on the blocks for the Denyse Schmidt Hop, Skip and a Jump quilt. I really like how it’s turning out so far. I have six blocks done. By my estimates I will need a total of twenty four blocks to get the size I want. That’s going to be a challenge. I try to sneak in some sewing when Isabelle isn’t wanting me. It’s hard though. I give her a toy and put her on her playmat and sew, sew, cut, cut until she crawls over or whines for me. So, eighteen more blocks to go. Maybe I should have made them bigger. Oh well.

Month Ten with Isabelle

Posted in: Monthly Family Picture

Yesterday Isabelle turned ten months old. TEN! We’ve been talking about throwing her a birthday party and I know it’s two months away but it’s going to fly by too fast. Sometimes Alan just grabs her up in his arms and says “Stop it! Stop it! You’re growing too fast!” And she is. Sniffle sniffle…

Ok a recap of this past month with our little munchkin:

  • She got her first diaper rash! Waaah!! Let’s hope she never gets another one. She shouldn’t have even had that one. Twack! Twack! The sound of us kicking ourselves.
  • She got her first tooth! Not like she’s going to let us look at it much. She quite objects to having us sticking our fingers into her mouth for a little peek.
  • She’s figured out standing this month. It’s been fun watching her progress from shaky pulling herself up to confident I do this all the time pulling up. Here’s a link to the video in case you missed it the first time.
  • Isabelle can crawl forward now. You can’t keep a good baby down. :) She’s a quick little nipper (what was I watching that that word is in my head?) I put her on the floor the other night and she crawled quick as can be around to Waldo and stole the toy he was playing with. He then proceeded to whine like the big baby he is. Oh and the video of her crawling and dancing in case you missed it.
  • She went swimming for the first time. She didn’t think much of it.
  • She’s taken an interest in the dogs now. Or maybe it’s their toys, no, just joking it’s the dogs.
  • She’s figured out how to climb over stuff. Alan had the brilliant idea of pulling the air mattress out so she’s playing on her playmat surrounded on all four sides. Well she figured out quick enough to get out of there by climbing the air mattress. So she just goes about climbing here, there, and over us if we’re in her way. Now she needs to figure out how to get down.
  • * We got her a walker rider thing this month. She hasn’t really used it though. It’s sort of scary. She stands there and loses her balance and doesn’t let go and the walker just gets away from her. So it’s in the ride position.
  • I created a little monster. I downloaded this program where Isabelle can hit computer keys without messing up any files. And then idiot that I am, I showed it to her. Guess what she loves to do? Pound the crap outta the computer. In this picture she’s sitting so calmy. She’s graduated to standing and smashing her little palms onto the keys. Oh and on Alan’s computer which doesn’t have that handy program by the way. She’s obsessed with the computer now. She has actually thrown a fit when I try to keep her from it. Yes a monster, that’s what I’ve created.
  • Some time ago she stopped the pinching scratching thing I mentioned on her seven month. But for some reason she’s started again and I have little cuts on my boobs again. Aaaah!!
  • And finally, she’s interested in what we’re eating. In fact I gave her a little piece of something and when she wanted more she threw a fit when I didn’t give it to her fast enough. :-D Hee hee hee!
  • Wow I’m finally ending one of these without a I gotta go she’s fussing! Did I remember everything? I think so. Aah ok family picture time.

I had a really hard time choosing a family picture this time. There were so many that I loved. Do I go with the one where I like the look on her face, or the one with her thumb in her mouth, or rawr, or the one where we’re actually all looking at the camera, or the one where Alan makes crazy eyes, or he looks like he’s going to bite her. No none of those. I’ll choose this one, because I like how her feet are sticking up towards the camera. Ok goodnight!

    Yarn Came In

I ordered some yarn and it came in. Some yarn…ok lots of yarn. I plan to make Great Uncle Angus from Jean Greenhowe’s MacScarecrow Clan. It would be nice to have the whole family. I say plan because I bounce from project to project so who knows when I’ll get them done.

Scamp came from the same book. Which reminds me. I really must ask my friend if she has another Jean Greenhowe book. She got the MacScarecrow Clan when she went back to England to visit her family. I think she also has the Mascot Dolls. I really want a little policeman or a bobby I think is what they’re called. Oh so exciting. Excited for projects that are yet to be.

    Squirmy

I forgot to mention this on Isabelle’s tenth month recap because I’ve gotten so used to it. Isabelle has gotten amazingly squirmy! I used to be able to set her somewhere and she would just stay there. But once she figured out she could stand and move around that was it for the staying there.

It started in her stroller. So one day she turned around and just stood up. Since then she barely stays still in that thing.

Then it happened in her little massage chair. She would turn around in the seat, then stand up, hold on, and bounce a little. And if I try to buckle her in, man she would complain.

Now the funniest squirming is when I’m trying to nurse her to sleep. She turns onto her stomach and gets her legs under her and then sticks her little butt into the air. Once she even stuck one of her legs up in the air, my silly squirmy baby. All while latched on still.

I wish could take some pictures. But in the case of the stroller and the chair I’m too busy making sure she doesn’t fall. And the nursing well obviously I don’t want to show the boobage. :)

    Tiered Skirt

Isabelle has a lot of bright shirts like this. When she wears them her little diapered booty is hanging out because she doesn’t have any skirts and it’s too warm for pants. So I made her a tiered skirt. She looks so adorable in it.

It’s made of muslin because that’s what I had on hand. It’s simple and will go with any color. I was rushing to finish it because the urge to sew it up happened on the day she turned ten months old. I wanted her to be wearing her new skirt for our family picture and Alan had to go to work soon. So it was rushed, rushed, rushed and therefore a little sloppy. The mistakes are not noticeable unless you look for them though. I’d love to make some more. I wonder if it would be hard to make one for me?

I found the link for the tutorial through Pink Trees but the page for the tutorial seems to be gone.

Feeling a little blah lately. After our weekend of visiting with friends and swimming I’ve sort of been in a slump. I’ve haven’t felt like doing anything. I just sit and play with Isabelle. And when the opportunity comes up where I can work on the quilt or knit I think oh I can do that now since Isabelle is playing but then I just sit there and think it and don’t do it. I’ve barely been on the computer as well. Whenever I open it Isabelle just wants to pound on the keys. I’m amazed I even drew something and posted it today. That’s how very blah I’m feeling.
