The Secret is Out
Posted in: Sewing

Well I was going to show my cabo halter when I was finished with it but I’m stuck. I need to make alterations. It says “If there is more than 1 1/2″ left along the back raw edges on each side, then take in any extra amount evenly on each of the side seams to get your desired fit.” Huh? Does that mean I cut it at the edge where the zipper would be?
Update: Ok lightbulb just went off in my head. Side seams meaning both the front and the back pieces. I couldn’t understand because I thought it meant just the back pieces. If I had done that the pieces wouldn’t have matched up. That’s why I was confused. I GET IT NOW!! DUH!!
**UPDATE**: Ok no lightbulb. I just looked at it again and what I thought would work doesn’t. I’m clueless.

Just a guess but I think you put the zipper in the middle of the space and cut the extras off both of the sides evenly. Like this
–=/=– (dashes are equally cut off areas, equals are edges and zipper in the middle) Yeah thats right HUH? This does not make any sense!
Dont even read this! hugs and well wishes sweet girl!!

Is that cut all in one piece or is there a front and back section that were stitched together at the sides?
If there are side seams, that’s where the adjustment should be made, not at the zipper. If there aren’t side seams, the directions don’t make sense! LOL.
I love the fabric!

the zipper doesn’t go all the way down does it? because if you cut by the zipper then you lose that amount around the waist. her patterns are simple but she does have some confusing lines in them.

No…it seems to me that you need to rip out the side seams and restitch. Actually, you don’t even have to rip out. Just try on the top, and pinch at the sides where you need to take in. Pin, and then sew at that point. THEN rip out the old seam.
