Sad Carrot Softie

Here is the sad carrot drawing as a softie. When I was cutting his green top out I thought hmmm…that’s hard to see where to sew but I continued cutting and figured I could just figure it out as I went along. Well that didn’t work. It doesn’t look at all like what I drew. And then staring at my drawing I started to think his green leafy top looks more like it belongs on a pineapple. So he’s going back to the drawing board.
And the sewing…! His cross lines weren’t anchored properly so they’re coming up. And on his back side I started sewing his cross lines on the wrong side and you can tell. What do I mean? Well on my sewing machine, at the starting point the thread jumbles up and looks messier on one side than the other. Are all machines like that or does it have something to do with my tension? So I have to watch that the next time sad carrot is made.

cute! it’s probably your tension…is that fleece or felt? because if it’s fleece you might try a blunt tip needle

It’s probably the bobbin tension or the bobbin may be threaded wrong. You might try flipping it over when the thread bunches up. Sometimes it helps to hold the thread ends with your right hand as you start stitching. I hope you figure out what’s causing it.
I think Sad Carrot will be really cute! I can’t wait to see a Sad Vegetable Medley all tossed together!

cute carrot! my machine does that too — i’m guessing it’s the tension but i don’t know how to fix it either.

Your sad carrot is totally cool. I especially like his tiny tear.
