Too Scared to Alter

Ok I sort of cheated. I was too worried about cutting the fabric and trying to alter it. So I just did a test by basting it up to see how it would look without a zipper and I think it works. Let me get up some courage and maybe I’ll alter it…later.

The Secret is Out

Well I was going to show my cabo halter when I was finished with it but I’m stuck. I need to make alterations. It says “If there is more than 1 1/2″ left along the back raw edges on each side, then take in any extra amount evenly on each of the side seams to get your desired fit.Huh? Does that mean I cut it at the edge where the zipper would be?

Update: Ok lightbulb just went off in my head. Side seams meaning both the front and the back pieces. I couldn’t understand because I thought it meant just the back pieces. If I had done that the pieces wouldn’t have matched up. That’s why I was confused. I GET IT NOW!! DUH!!

**UPDATE**: Ok no lightbulb. I just looked at it again and what I thought would work doesn’t. I’m clueless.

Another Dress for Isabelle

Here’s the McCall’s 2213 pattern again. This time it’s view C. I tried to take pictures of Isabelle in it. She wasn’t very cooperative. I gave her the phone to distract her. It worked for all of 1 second. And I don’t know if you can tell but it’s too big. I made the extra large size again because Alan keeps saying how she’s a giant. Obviously she’s not.

Here’s the back of the dress. I chose this pattern specifically for this criss cross design.

And look, I used some of the fabric that Isa sent for the pockets. It was a very nice match.

Oh and I cheated on the buttons. I’m scared to cut into the dress so I just sewed the buttons on without making buttonholes.

Flying

I have a friend who is unexpectedly getting married this weekend. She lives in Oregon. The drive is just too long for Isabelle. So we thought we’d fly.

Do you know how much plane tickets would be from San Francisco to Portland roundtrip? I’ve seen it as high as $1192. That’s not for the two of us, that’s for one person. ONE. And as low as $316. That’s still durn expensive. We can’t afford it. I keep checking prices hoping it will go down. Sorry Lorraine! We’re not coming unless we learn to fly.

I thought it was funny to add the bird in. Cheap? Why yes we are.

Points?

I’m working on a couple of things. Here’s a question…how do you get nice sharp points when you turn your items inside out? I push and push and just can’t seem to push them out enough to get nice sharp angle. Any tips? I’m using scissors. Should I be using something else?

Update: Aaaa haa haa hoo!! Thanks mama lamb. I’m not trimming it enough! And Monte Kitty I’m making stuff!!! Hee hee hee! Aren’t I a brat? I’ll show them in all their glory yeah right when I’m done. :)

Chinese Outfit, Dancing, and Crawling

When Bridgette went to China she picked us up a silk Chinese outfit! Thank you Bridgette!

Mommy I’m about to fuss.

And there I go!

And on a totally unrelated topic. Here’s a video of Isabelle dancing and crawling. (1.1 Mb, Quicktime) Ok she wasn’t really dancing. It’s more like she’s balancing but look at her booty shake! Oh and the sound of me cackling in the background. I can’t check it right now since Isabelle is sleeping but I think I do the laugh twice, once with each crawl. Yes that’s my crazy laughing, my I’m so proud of my baby crawling laugh.

I Hate Bananas Design

YES! We have no bananas, We have no bananas today.

I was just watching Sabrina. Anyhoo…the list of baby food Isabelle doesn’t like is growing. I need to add pears and apples. And I still need to fix the carrot. All these ideas and I find it hard to find time to sew or ahem try out my silk screen kit. When oh when will these onesies be made?
