Back to Crumpets

Well I finally emailed Denise Knitting needles and they mailed out a new needle right away. Strange…my old needles seems to be grey and the new needle seems whiter. Well it works, so that’s fine. So anyhoo, the big bad baby blanket is going on the back burner and I’ve picked crumpets back up.

I totally forgot it was Chinese New Year. I don’t…

I totally forgot it was Chinese New Year. I don’t know how I managed to do that since on the weekend Bridgette kept saying she had to go home to have dinner with the family.

So HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! Did I have dinner with my family on Chinese New Year’s Eve according to tradition? Nope. Do I give out red envelopes? Nope. Do I have any traditional Chinese New Year food? NOPE!

I was born in Hong Kong but raised in America. And sometimes I wish that we were raised there until we got older. But we moved here when I was almost a year old. In fact Helen was born here in America about 2 weeks after we arrived. I can’t read or write Chinese. I don’t even know if my drawing up there really says Gung Hay Fat Choy. It could say Onh Sek Gau See.

I don’t even speak Cantonese much anymore at all. It’s sad. BRIDGETTE, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TALK TO ME IN CHINESE!!! I want Isabelle to be able to speak it and Tagalog too. What to do, what to do? We almost bought a computer CD that teaches 55 languages. But we didn’t get it because do those really work and ummmm I just want 2 languages so does it not cover them really well since it’s 55 languages? Any suggestions? Bridgette, does Marie speak Cantonese well?

Goodnight

Going to bed now. I never got around to posting these pictures. They were taken sometime before Christmas. I really like our family pictures together in a series.

Fitful Sleep

For the past four days we’ve been getting our 12 hours of sleep here. Or I should say Isabelle has been. I fall asleep with her sometimes and then wake up and leave her sleeping. Then when I go to bed for good I’ve been having a fitful sleep. So my head has been hurting in the evenings for the past four days. Isabelle seems fine. She tosses and turns and almost wakes up and then falls back asleep. I on the other hand wake up completely when she does that.

So I’m feeling like crap. It doesn’t help that I’m coming down with a cold or something. Let’s hope tonight is better.

Womb Noises

I was in the mood for drawing so I drew this little gadget, this whatcha-ma-call-it, this thing. It came in an ugly bear that we promptly dumped somewhere in the house. But this wonderful thing we pulled out right away.

You turn the little knob and this noise, that is supposed to be womb noises, comes out of it. It drowns out the sounds of the televeision from the other room and the general noises Alan makes. Every night we drift off to sleep, me and Isabelle, to noises of the womb.

Here’s the Teddy Bear Coat Pre-Blocked

Here is Isabelle in her Teddy Bear Coat! She looked so cute in it. It’s too big for her but she’ll grow into it. She looked so adorable I took a lot of pictures. I couldn’t decide between these shots so I just posted all of them.

Update: Sarita, it’s a Debbie Bliss pattern. The book says book six.

Isabelle’s Lovey

Today we went to the dentist and then visited with Alan’s sister. We then had a drive home with Isabelle screaming and crying, pretty much the whole way home. When we got home it was dark so still no pictures of the teddy bear coat. So instead here is a picture of Isabelle holding her lovey.
