Giant Baby!

The other day we were shopping and saw a baby and mom in line next to us. Her baby was about Isabelle’s size so I asked her how old her baby was. Her baby was 9 months old! So immediately I’m, “our baby is a giant!”

Later in the car I was thinking about the encounter and Alan was thinking about how I walk up to strange woman and ask them about their babies.

So what was I thinking exactly? Well her baby was all matching in pink with a hat and coat and shoes and socks and real clothes. And here we are all crazy looking: mismatched mittens, handmade onesie with a bright red pair of pants that didn’t match anything and no socks or shoes to speak of, not to mention the crazy hair. So I’m all feeling like a big loser parent with a GIANT of a baby and Alan just can’t get over the whole crazy me talking to some strange woman.

So today…I mean yesterday (forgot it was after midnight) when we went out, Isabelle matched quite cutely. (ahem…except for her mittens) Well that is until screaming and crying ensued and then it was striped back down to her homemade onesie. But that’s a story for another day and probably not this year since it’s New Year’s Eve.

Everyone enjoy New Year’s Eve!

(Oh…and on a side note. See the hat on Isabelle? That’s the hat she came home in from the hospital. Man my giant baby sure has grown!)

Ok Isabelle’s not really a giant baby. That lady’s baby was probably just small…probably.

One of a Kind Onesie

Whenever Isabelle has something on that says I love mommy Alan’s always like, “Why doesn’t it ever say I love daddy?” So I made some that said that just for him.

I got some iron on transfer paper and some plain onesies and ta dah handmade one of a kind special onesies just for him. I made 5 different designs. It was soo much fun.

Now I want to make more to sell online. Do you think anyone would want one? But I don’t think people who sell clothes online use iron on transfers do they? Don’t they do silk screening or something like that? How do I find out? And how much should one charge? Well for now I thought I’d open a shop, a Cafepress shop with all the designs. There’s the fishies shown here, flower heart, baby Isabelle, poopy monster, and pee pee monster. See them here! Store’s gone. So is Cafepress’s “heat transfer” the same as me doing an iron on transfer?

Anyhoo, the onesies I used for the iron on transfers were just some Gerber brand from Target. I wished I had gotten something nicer and thicker. Well the nice thing is I can make more and when she needs larger size onesies I can still make them and I don’t have to worry that she’ll grow out of an outfit I like. :)

Trixie’s Scarf

I didn’t plan to knit many gifts for Christmas, only three. However I didn’t even manage to do that. The only one I finished was a scarf for Trixie. And seeing that she has received it, I can now post about it and not ruin the surprise. :)

It’s a stitch from a poncho pattern by Lily Chen. I keep meaning to use my blog to write down my knitting particulars but I constantly forget. I can’t even remember what size needles I used for this. :( I really really have to try to remember for the next project I work on.

Our Christmas

We had a lovely Christmas! Alan and I didn’t need presents. As we said, “Isabelle is all the present we need, she was the perfect gift this year.

We spent Christmas Eve with Alan’s family. The picture from the last post was us getting ready for the party. Isabelle was soooo adorable in the pretty dress. This was my favorite picture. See how Isabelle’s cute little feet are sticking out from under her dress? And you can see we were wearing matching colors.

Isabelle was a good little baby. She let people hold her and didn’t fuss much at all. We were really surprised at how well behaved she was because we didn’t arrive until after her bedtime. We stayed past midnight and didn’t get home until about 3 a.m. and she went to sleep just fine for the late hour. :)

Then on Christmas day Isabelle was dressed in her cute little red baby’s first Christmas outfit. You can see she received tons of presents. She was surrounded by them. We opened them and then had dinner with my friend Jennifer and her family. Jennifer is originally from England and she had Christmas crackers!! We had dinner wearing little paper crowns. And then the rest of the evening was spent playing Cranium. Soooo fun!!!

It was a wonderful Christmas!

Car Trips Suck

We drove to San Francisco so Isabelle could meet her great grandma for the first time.

It should have been a 45 minute drive. It turned out to be a total nightmare 2.5 hour drive. Isabelle was crying like crazy. We ended up pulling over 4 times so I could comfort her and nurse her. It was so sad. She was screaming and crying and so upset. Crying so much she would hardly take a breath. I almost cried I was so upset.

And then the drive home was a little bit better. Only one stop and then she fell asleep. She woke up close to home when we got stuck in traffic. The freeway was closed down for repair and I was so upset I could have irrationally screamed at Caltrans for repairing the road right at that moment when my baby needed comforting.

I don’t want to make that drive to San Francisco again anytime soon. We almost didn’t go out yesterday when Bridgette and her daughter Marie came for a visit.

(Bridgette you don’t mind me putting a pic up of Marie do you? If you do I’ll take it down. Let me know. It’s just such a sweet picture)

The thought of the possiblity of her crying in her carseat was a little daunting. But we did go out. She had a cry again. It wasn’t as bad as the San Francisco drive but it was upsetting. Her crying makes me absolutely frantic to make her feel better. Car trips suck!

Swear Like a Sailor

We rented a horror movie and I got all freaked out. It wasn’t even that scary but my active imagination ya know… So I was in the kitchen making an apple pie and Alan was in the bedroom with the dogs and Isabelle. The door was closed so the mixer noise wouldn’t wake her. I was all alone. Oh did I mention it was 2:45 am in the morning?

So anyhoo…back to what I was saying. I’m all freaked out looking behind my shoulder at the dark room behind me and I finally decide I don’t want to be alone and am going to drag Nestle out of her warm bed to sit up with me while I bake.

I go into the room and call her name and try to get her to come. But she refuses. Smart dog. Why get out of a nice warm bed in the middle of the night to hang out with a crazy woman? So I keep calling her and I say, “Come on Nestle! Come on bitch!” She just stares at me. So Alan says, “Use the F word“. And I’m all confused. I’m thinking how is that going to get her to come? But I try anyways. I say, “Come on you f****** bitch!.”

Then Alan says, “not that word honey. Front. Use front. That’s why we paid for puppy school.”

DUH! So I say, “front Nestle!” and up she pops and follows me into the kitchen. Good dog like usual. Gawd I’m a moron. You would think I swear like a sailor since that’s the F word I automatically thought of first.
