First Doctor Appointment

Isabelle had her first doctor appointment. She now weighs 10 pounds 12 ounces. She’s 23″ long and her head circumference is 15″. The doctor said something about her weight being in the 50th percentile. I don’t know what that means and was too distracted to ask because I was worried about her shots. SHOTS!

Yes SHOTS! The doctor didn’t give the shots. I was surprised. We went to the pediatric injection department for shots. She had three done. Two in her left leg and one in her right. It was soooooo sad. She cried for just a little on the first shot but then the last two she just cried and cried. I was all teary eyed and if Alan wasn’t there to soothe me I’m sure I would have been outright bawling. Isabelle didn’t cry that long. Once Alan put her in my arms she quieted down pretty good and even fell asleep for the car ride home.

And now she’s at home, I’m sort of freaking out just a teensy bit. She’s so sleepy. I have had to wake her twice now to feed her.

Try giving her a dose of Tylenol about 1 hour before her shots. It really helps keep the pain down and the side effects to a minimum. I also massaged my boys thighs before shot time and that seems to help.

50% tile is what both my boys were for weight at that age.

    She is way to cute.

50% means she’s average size. Go to cdc.gov and look for the child growth charts. It’s a way of seeing how your kid is growing. That can be a tool for diagnosis if anything is ever wrong with her chronically.
