Isabelle is two months old today! This second month has been a lot easier. It’s not that she sleeps through the night, no if anything she seems to be sleeping less. However, we can now side nurse lying down so that’s easier. We’re not great at it and sometimes Isabelle fusses like crazy but sometimes she doesn’t and it’s heavenly. Sleep and she gets to eat. It doesn’t get better than that.

Recap of this second month:

  • No more nipple shields. Yay! It makes feedings so much easier.
  • If you blow on Isabelle’s face she stops crying for a few seconds with this look of wonder on her face.
  • Isabelle has learned to cry really loud. I think she learned it from Alan. When she was crying he would say I can scream louder than you and he’d start going waaaahhhh waaaaah. And now yes I think she’s louder than Alan.
  • She’s started smacking her lips. That’s really cute.
  • We filled the bathtub full and I took a bath with her and found out she floats! Isabelle floats. I just need to hold onto her head.
  • For the first time Nestle’s barking has scared her off the boob. She just laid there wide eyed listening and didn’t want to be put back on.
  • I’ve learned that I can stick my finger or a binky in her mouth to keep her from crying for a couple of seconds. Sometimes that’s just enough time to get the boob ready and in her mouth.
  • Isabelle seems to be able to focus better. I can put her under the mobile and she’ll stare at it.
  • She talks so much more now. Seevideo here.
  • She’s cried tears. Actual tears. Where were they before? I thought just the sound of her crying was saddest thing. But nope. Seeing actual tears is even sadder.
  • Isabelle smiles a lot more now and has even laughed. See video here.
  • And now her hair sticks up. It didn’t use to. It refuses to lay straight. It’s just craaaazy!
  • Oh and the best thing this month. She weighs 10 pounds now and she’s gone up a diaper size. Our little baby is growing. It’s gone by too fast.
