Silly Parent Mistake #1

We did something silly. I didn’t mention it before. But I’ll share it now. And who knows how many more silly mistakes we’ll make so this post is numbered 1.
Alan’s cousin got us a nice little diaper bag. So I transferred everything from my purse into it. The first outing we had with Isabelle was the day after we brought her home, to the lactation counselor. So we packed her up in her car seat and I grabbed the diaper bag. At the hospital Isabelle had peed so the lactation counselor suggested we change her before she observed a feeding. Alan looked at me, I looked at him. We didn’t pack any diapers. We had a diaper bag with not a single diaper in it. Diaper? Diaper?

My friend Ruthie, who had little olivia 7 months ago, does things like this all the time - she refers to it as “mummy brain”, and says that it is a well known fact that when people become pregnant their IQ falls. I think it’s much more likely that she’s just so concerned about her little girl that she gets sidetracked on things which aren’t so important!!
Hope the feeding is going better today!!

Don’t worry, you’ll make many more silly parent mistakes. It’s okay. We’ve all done it. And if you meet a parent who says he or she hasn’t made those kinds of goofs, that person is lying!

So normal. Wait until you leave your child behind somewhere by accident….
