Horrible Taste

This morning I woke up and actually felt normal. NORMAL! No acidy stomach or nausea. Didn’t last long though. :( As soon as I started eating I felt like crap again. The horrible taste in my mouth that went away last week didn’t stay away long enough. The doctor says it’s acid reflux. Something with the hormones in pregnant women that loosens up the I don’t remember what he called it that makes acid reflux and heartburn more common when you’re pregnant. It makes eating so hard. Every time I finish eating it’s just yucky gross taste.

Helen was reading somewhere online about a women with a metallic taste in her mouth after she ate. She said dry mouth gum by the toothpaste section helped. I don’t have a metallic taste in my mouth but I wonder if the gum would work for me as well? I don’t know what kind of gum she was talking about. We went to the grocery store today and looked for gum by where the toothpaste was and couldn’t find any dry mouth gum.

And I’ve already tried regular gum. It doesn’t work. I chew on it maybe for a minute and then that taste is back and I have to spit the gum out before I gag. Alan says I go through gum like crazy.

Same with brushing my teeth. Doesn’t work. I feel like gagging while I’m brushing and then when I’m done my mouth feels clean and fresh for a couple of seconds but the taste comes back immediately. Which would make sense with acid reflux because it’s stomach acid and no matter how clean my mouth is it doesn’t stop the stomach acids.

I’ve tried rolaids too. They don’t seem to really help. Let me give it another try.

Baby’s Head

I can’t believe I didn’t even think to mention this in my earlier post…so preoccupied I’ve been with feeling like crap. We went to the hospital again yesterday. You know I’ve gone to the doctor every week this month. Well anyhoo…no keetones. Yay! And and and…I’ve gained weight! I’m back up to the weight I was at my first visit. Yippee yay!

Then this scary thing happened. The nurse went to listen to the baby’s heartbeat with that microphone machine and she couldn’t find it. I was soooo freaked out. She then went and got an ultrasound machine and found the baby no problem. And our baby has a head now!! Well not now NOW because I’m sure the baby’s head has been there for a while but I mean we saw the baby’s head and it actually looked like a head! And the nurse said the heart was beating (I could barely tell) and I was like really? and then she said the baby moved (I just thought she had moved the camera thing-a-ma-bob but hey she said it was the baby) so yay yay again. Our baby has a head!!
