Scared Of Bugs?

I’m scared of bugs and insects and basically creepy crawly things. Mostly all types even butterflies and ladybugs. We once went to one of those butterfly dome things where it’s filled with butterflies. I thought it would be so awesome with pretty butterflies everywhere. But in fact I was freaked out. Well they are pretty but also creepy, with their scary little buggy legs. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

When I see a bug, it’s always: AAAAAAlan there’s a bug! Come get it! I’d rather have him take care of it. Bugs crunch. Eeeew my skin is crawling just thinking about it. And if Alan isn’t home I try to get as far away from the bug as possible. Sometimes that’s not possible and I have to deal with it which usually involves screaming repeatedly while I hit creepy bug over and over and over again with closest object in hand and then throwing said object across the room. Which I then will not touch the rest of the night until Alan gets home.

So I was at Target the other day and saw this!

A bug vacuum!! It’s so you can keep them in a little bottle and observe them. I am in no way interested in using it like that. Instead I thought what a great idea, now I can calmly suck bugs up and toss them out the door. However I don’t think that is actually going to happen. I think it’s going to go more like this:

Me screaming as I suck up bug with the bug vacuum and then scream as I throw it across the room and then me freaked out the rest of the night imagining how the bug is alive and trying to get out.

Yeah…maybe that wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Secret to Taking Pictures of My Poochies

How did I get a picture of her cuteness yawning while curled up with her little back paws tucked under her front legs? Well here’s the secret. Accidental shooting involving huffiness and multiples.

Huh you say. Well this is how I take pictures of my poochies. Every time.

One of the dogs does something cute.

  • Me: Honey grab the camera. (because usually if I go the dogs follow me)
  • Alan: No you go.
  • Me: Pleeeeeease….they’ll move.
  • Alan: No.
  • Me: Pretty pleeeeeease!
  • Alan: No.
  • Me: Pretty preeeeety pleeeease!!

Alan huffs off into the other room because the camera would always be in the other room. He brings the camera back grumpily.

  • Alan: Next time, you better tie this thing around your neck.

Now repeat for every time after this. (that’s why there is Alan huffiness)

And the multiples part was that Nestle was already doing something cute and I just kept on shooting and by chance I caught her yawn. Shooting this way I get a whole bunch of crap pictures but I’ll accidentally take good ones too. And that’s my secret of taking my poochie pictures.

I’ve been listening to the For The Kids CD. Especially the Rainbow Connection. It’s driving Alan quite mad. When I play it he periodically makes this frustrated noise like “AAAAARGH!” (but not so pirate sounding).

Have you ever eaten at Tahoe Joe’s? They have a dessert called Ski Jump Chocolate Cake. And it has a little skier on the whipped cream. How freaking cute is that?

    Illustration Friday: Balance

I can’t believe it! I completely forgot about Illustration Friday this week! Didn’t remember at all, not even a teensy bit until I went to read Lopie’s journal today.

And why is that? Because I’ve been a busy bee trying to balance my checkbook for days. I’m usually very anal about it and if I could, I would keep track of every penny. But for some reason these past how many months I’ve been procrastinating on balancing my checkbook. And Quicken is being temperamental and transactions are disappearing and basically it’s a mess.

So it’s really fitting that this week’s topic is balance. I took a break from my Quicken mess to draw. And the first thing that came to mind was this handheld video game I used to have when I was little. It was a waiter balancing dishes trying to get them across the room. So I played with that idea and came up with my waiter balancing money.

I quite enjoy walking around the house saying in a sing song way “There’s a baby in my belleeeeeyyyy” in the loudest most off key way possible. It frightens Waldo but it is oh so fun.
