After I went peeing in a cup for my pregnancy test at the hospital we were driving away and we saw a rainbow, a beautiful rainbow that filled up the sky in front of us. We pulled over and listened to Sarah McLachlan singing The Rainbow Connection. I happily sat there thinking of happy thoughts like how rainbows come out after a rain and the world seems new and fresh and filled with possibility. I’m taking it as a good sign about the baby!

Nestle has been sniffing my tummy. And whenever she does I say to her “can you smell the baby in there?”

I saw a friend the other day and we exchanged Christmas gifts. Yes yes Christmas has come and gone but I haven’t seen her in a while.

And what did she get me? Cranium (awesome game) and A KNITTING BOOK!! Simple Knits with a Twist by Erika Knight. I especially like the flower-trimmed evening bag (which Waldo would be covering) and the molded wire bowl (which is under his paw). I haven’t ever knit with wire but I would really like to try it. I like working with wire and it’s one of the items on my to do list of projects I want to tackle.

Prenatal Clerk Visit

We went for our prenatal clerk visit today which was basically Alan and a nurse sitting there while I filled out forms. After filling out loads of paperwork I asked Alan to double check what I had written but then being very impatient as I have been feeling lately, I promptly grabbed it from him saying aaaaw it’s fine. The nurse then checked over what I had filled out and wouldn’t you know it…I missed an entire page and also checked a box that said I wasn’t, that’s right WAS NOT, involved with the father of the child. That’s what I get for being impatient.

And what else happened at the visit today? We found out an estimate when the baby is due!! September 9th!

Scared Of Bugs?

I’m scared of bugs and insects and basically creepy crawly things. Mostly all types even butterflies and ladybugs. We once went to one of those butterfly dome things where it’s filled with butterflies. I thought it would be so awesome with pretty butterflies everywhere. But in fact I was freaked out. Well they are pretty but also creepy, with their scary little buggy legs. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

When I see a bug, it’s always: AAAAAAlan there’s a bug! Come get it! I’d rather have him take care of it. Bugs crunch. Eeeew my skin is crawling just thinking about it. And if Alan isn’t home I try to get as far away from the bug as possible. Sometimes that’s not possible and I have to deal with it which usually involves screaming repeatedly while I hit creepy bug over and over and over again with closest object in hand and then throwing said object across the room. Which I then will not touch the rest of the night until Alan gets home.

So I was at Target the other day and saw this!

A bug vacuum!! It’s so you can keep them in a little bottle and observe them. I am in no way interested in using it like that. Instead I thought what a great idea, now I can calmly suck bugs up and toss them out the door. However I don’t think that is actually going to happen. I think it’s going to go more like this:

Me screaming as I suck up bug with the bug vacuum and then scream as I throw it across the room and then me freaked out the rest of the night imagining how the bug is alive and trying to get out.

Yeah…maybe that wasn’t such a good idea after all.
