Great Day

Today I got the call saying congratulations I got the job! And after that I peed on a stick that said I was pregnant! It’s a great day today!

My Squishy is all knit up and he needs a face. He is looking very lopsided, as a result of some more late night knitting. His right arm is noticeably shorter then his left arm. I think I will have to keep him. I’m afraid his little flaws (or as Thuy calls them, character building elements) will only be endearing to me. I’m thinking if I give him to someone they may be afraid of him. Like he’s some weird mutant bunny. And once he’s done I will make a non mutant bunny for my friend.

This week’s Illustration Friday is disaster relief. I found this a very hard subject. Trying to think about something to draw was heart wrenching. Sometimes I think the news is a bad thing. I tried to watch as little of it as possible. Sometimes I feel as if terrible images batter one’s soul. So for this subject I tried to think of something that would lead to positive action.
I just took a look at some of the other illustrations up. I really liked Papunella Broust. That one moved me to tears, the expression on the faces and they way they’re holding each other.
After I went peeing in a cup for my pregnancy test at the hospital we were driving away and we saw a rainbow, a beautiful rainbow that filled up the sky in front of us. We pulled over and listened to Sarah McLachlan singing The Rainbow Connection. I happily sat there thinking of happy thoughts like how rainbows come out after a rain and the world seems new and fresh and filled with possibility. I’m taking it as a good sign about the baby!
Nestle has been sniffing my tummy. And whenever she does I say to her “can you smell the baby in there?”

I saw a friend the other day and we exchanged Christmas gifts. Yes yes Christmas has come and gone but I haven’t seen her in a while.
And what did she get me? Cranium (awesome game) and A KNITTING BOOK!! Simple Knits with a Twist by Erika Knight. I especially like the flower-trimmed evening bag (which Waldo would be covering) and the molded wire bowl (which is under his paw). I haven’t ever knit with wire but I would really like to try it. I like working with wire and it’s one of the items on my to do list of projects I want to tackle.
We went for our prenatal clerk visit today which was basically Alan and a nurse sitting there while I filled out forms. After filling out loads of paperwork I asked Alan to double check what I had written but then being very impatient as I have been feeling lately, I promptly grabbed it from him saying aaaaw it’s fine. The nurse then checked over what I had filled out and wouldn’t you know it…I missed an entire page and also checked a box that said I wasn’t, that’s right WAS NOT, involved with the father of the child. That’s what I get for being impatient.
And what else happened at the visit today? We found out an estimate when the baby is due!! September 9th!
