Santa ornament

We started to decorate our christmas tree…ok not really. This little santa is all we have up. And the only, ONLY reason he is up is because we bought him when we got our tree at Clayton Valley Pumpkin Farm. The rest of the christmas ornaments are still boxed away. And plus…we have no hot apple cider. We can’t decorate our tree without having hot apple cider and a toasty fire going in the fireplace!

Scarf

I still haven’t finished the butterfly on Butterflies Are Free but I did finish the scarf. It’s so warm and fuzzy. I have another ball left so I think I will make myself a scarf as well.

Stressful Night at the Movies

We went and watched the 4:45pm showing of Ocean’s Twelve today. And who would have known that six hours later I would be back at the theater. Back at the theater sitting around for an hour and a half knitting and pacing in the lobby. Yep. What happened was I lost my wallet and didn’t even realize it until Alan was getting ready for work. The last place I remembered seeing it was during the movie. So off to the movies I went at 10:45pm. When I got there a movie had already started so I peeked in and wouldn’t you know it…there were people in the seats we sat in. So I had to wait for the movie to let out. I sat there knitting my variation on a frill. I’m glad I bring that with me everywhere. It kept me occupied in the beginning before I got too antsy to knit. But the night ended well. I FOUND MY WALLET! Yippee!! Yay!! So I finally got home about 12:35am. What a way to spend my evening.

Christmas tree

I dragged the ornaments out and we did more decorating of the tree. We put all the delicate balls up and the strings of light. But we haven’t put up our yearly ornaments. Wait correction. Alan started helping me put up the ornaments. He got onto a chair and did the lights up high where I couldn’t reach. Then he got hungry and I told him to get something to eat while I put everything else up. And then I sort of petered out. I’m waiting for him so we can finish it together. :)

And on a Christmas note…one of Alan’s Christmas presents arrived today. NO LOOKING ALAN!

The Microwave is Dead! Long Live the Microwave!

Dead microwave

The Microwave is Dead! Long Live the Microwave!. When I was little I never understood that. Well not long live the microwave but long live the king. I couldn’t grasp the concept. I could never figure out how if the king was dead he was then expected to live long.

So anyhoo back to the microwave. Yes our microwave died. I was reheating my tea and there was about 50 seconds left on the timer when the microwave stopped making that microwave noise that microwaves make. The timer was still going but NO MICROWAVE NOISE. I tried it a couple of more times and still nothing. So the next morning Alan gave it a try. It worked. Then I tried it and it didn’t. Ok so I’m thinking: what’s this microwave conspiracy where it refuses to work for me? But Alan tried it again and nothing. So that was it. It was done. It had a long well used life.

So there we were without a microwave. I didn’t realize how much we used our microwave until ours went kapoot. Like how does one heat up leftovers? In the oven? On the stove?! How long will that take? I have to be standing there while the food reheats?! (Gasp in outrage) My Irish cinnamon and apple nstant oatmeal on the stove?!! Oh no no no!! No convenience of the microwave?!?! Unacceptable. Or as Alan said…how barbaric. Hee hee. :) So what to do, what to do? Buy a new microwave of course. And as soon as possible. So we popped over to Best Buy and got one. And you know…now looking back…in my mad frantic rush to get a microwave I didn’t even shop around or do research…NOTHING. We just went and bought one. I can’t believe Alan didn’t say anything! He just said “choose one honey.” Well on the positive side at least I didn’t by the $500 something Siemens one. Whoo.

When we got it home we of course used it immediately. It’s not even installed. It’s the kind that sits above the stove. Well it’s missing the correct size screws so this big humongous monstrosity of a microwave is sitting precariously on the counter plugged in and working. Aaah sweet microwave welcome home.
