Pop Pop Pop!

Bubble wrap. It’s the best packing material. When I say best I’m not talking about how well it cushions. I’m talking about fun factor. I really enjoy popping bubble wrap. Pop pop pop. It’s almost addictive.

I don’t like packing peanuts. They are messy and crunchy. I manage to spill them everywhere. I don’t like air filled bags. They don’t give satisfying pops, just sad little hisses as they deflate. I don’t like scrunched up paper. It’s just crinkly. Nothing pops like bubble wrap. Alan once got a package of I don’t remember but I do remember there was loads of bubble wrap! There was so much I couldn’t bare to pop any. We rolled it up and saved it for when we needed to ship something.

ok maybe I popped a couple. Pop pop pop!

I was trying to find a scarf I made for my friend Jennifer. I searched in drawer after drawer and I couldn’t find it. But I did find my Lulu bag. It’s from Rowan Big Easy. This was the first bag I made. In fact I think it was my first non scarf project.

I also found this huddle scarf when I was searching through my drawers. It’s from Rowan The Next Big Thing. I never wear this scarf. It’s itchy and when I turn it around it’s weird looking. See:

Wow Friday came fast this week! I had a really hard time thinking of something for Illustration Friday this week. For vintage this is the only thing that popped into my head. And the label on the wine Zoebor is an anagram for boozer. Vintage = wine = booze. :)

My Velveteen Rabbits

Everyone knows the story of The Velveteen Rabbit right? The story of the stuffed rabbit that comes to life. Well when I was young I had these two favorite toys. My two pound puppies. Rover and Spot. I got Rover first. I used to sleep with him every night hugging him. His stuffing bunched all up in a certain way and I used to say he was skinny and that’s why I could feel his muscles and ribs. He was lumpy like he was real.

And my other pound puppy, Spot, I got after Rover and I didn’t hug him at night so he wasn’t lumpy but fat and round. Just like Waldo.

Well a couple of years after we got Nestle and Waldo it dawned on me. They’re my Rover and Spot. Skinny Rover is my Nestle who I like to cuddle with at night. And fat Spot is Waldo who doesn’t like to cuddle at night. Even down to their colors. Rover is brown and Spot is white and brown. I even got them in the same order. Rover then Spot and Nestle then Waldo. They’re my velveteen rabbits! Weird huh?

Lost Yarn

I went to visit Helen yesterday so we swung by the yarn store close to her house. I had in mind a specific type of yarn I wanted to buy and I knew exactly what I wanted to make. But the sight of all the beautiful yarn just knocked those thoughts right out of my head. It wasn’t until we left the store that I realized I didn’t buy the yarn I had intended to buy! I could just kick myself. But I did buy some other yarn that I thought was oh so pretty. I was drawn to this yarn immediately. It reminds me of candy, cotton candy to be exact. I don’t know what I’m going to make with it. I just wanted it so I bought three balls.

I also went digging in the remnant bin and I found four balls of some darker yarn. Again I don’t know what I want to make but I just wanted it. When I got home at the end of the day, I immediately dived into the yarn store bag. And OH NO…three balls of the darker yarn was missing. So I automatically assumed they had fallen out in the car. I was too tired to go back to the car and check so I thought I would wait until today. Well it’s today but I can’t check now because Alan has taken the car paintballing. So I wan’t too worried about it. I was sure it would turn up. AND ONE OF THEM HAS. But not in a good way.

Nestle was dashing around the house. I didn’t think anything of it. I wasn’t paying much attention since I was checking my email. I finally looked up and she had my monkey slipper in her mouth! I shrieked, she dropped it, no big deal. I did think it was a little strange since she never touches my monkey slipper. So I went looking for my other monkey slipper and that’s when I saw it…a ball of the darker yarn. I thought yay it must have just dropped out of my bag when I brought it into the house. I picked it up and it was WET! Oh no!! It’s been in Nestle’s mouth!! In fact you can see the holes where she punctured the wrapper with her teeth!

So the question is…where are the other balls of yarn?!?!
