Visit with the Family

Today I went out to visit my family. Helen, Ebow, and I went to the Green Festival. It was ok. It was very crowded and hot and it made me antsy. With all the people jostling around me I just had the urge stand there and scream while pushing the crowd away. But I didn’t. :) We were there for a little over an hour. Which was fine with me. If we had stayed any longer my head would have popped. The most interesting and sort of scary thing we saw was this guy.

Puppet guy

He wasn’t in a booth or anything. He was just standing there. Looked like he was just hanging out talking to a friend. He had this puppet like head thing on his chest. And he had a backpack on his head. Well not really on his head. His head was in the backpack. So when he closed up the pack he covered up his head and it looked like this big puppet with a backpack was walking around. Kinda freaky and interesting all at the same time.

After the Green Festival we went back to my mom’s house and had dinner. I haven’t had dinner with my mom in the longest time. Why? Well it’s not that San Francisco is far away, only about an hour to get to my mom’s house. It’s that she’s always working. She works six days a week. And her day off is usually Tuesday. Our schedules just never match up. So we’re at the dinner table and I’m struggling to tell her what happened to my orchids. (I killed them with my wonderful gardening skills) Struggling because I’m attempting to speak Chinese. And I guess I’ve been slowly losing it over the years because I’m having a really hard time. I can understand but am really slow on remembering some words when I’m talking. So I give up and continue in English and my sister is sitting there translating what I’m saying into Chinese. That was a really weird moment there. Sitting at dinner having Helen translate what I’m saying to my mom. Bizarre.

It was a nice day with the family and I got to take more pictures of cute little Ebow.

Motorcycle Show Today

A couple of friends and Alan and I went to the motorcycle show in San Mateo today. Alan’s been wanting a motorcycle. Not me. They freak me out. I have no interest in them. I wish Alan had no interest in them. But he does. ho hum.

What was fun to see today? The Ball of Steel. It was motorcycles driving around in the big ball. It looked so dangerous. The scariest part was when the multiple motorcycles stopped at the bottom. I kept worrying they would run into each other.

What else did I like? The vespas. And that’s because they’re cute and don’t move too fast. And then this motorcycle with a side car. I told Alan he could get one of those. I could sit in the side car and knit. :) He didn’t like that idea as much as I did.
Sidecar

After lunch Alan and the friends kept on walking around the show while I went to take a nap in the car and knit of course. (I only had 3 hours sleep last night that’s why there was napping and what day would be complete without knitting. ha ha ha!)

The car parked in front had a little dog inside whining and trembling. It was so sad. He must have been in there for at least a hour and a half. It was so sad. I wonder if the owners know he cries and whines? He was so small they could have stuck him in a bag and took him along.
Dog in car

When we got home we had fried dog treats for dinner. MMM yum. Have you ever had fried dog treats? They’re so good. Just season them with a little salt and pepper.
Fried dog treats

Ok just joking. Seeing if anyone was paying attention is all. We had fried some chicken up earlier and we were in the bedroom and heard plunk plunk plat plat plat from the kitchen. We went to investigate and found the dog treats had fallen out of a cupboard all over the counter, stove, in the frying pan, and onto the floor. The dogs started frantically gobbling the ones up on the floor while I ran around trying to scoop them up before they could get their greedy mouths on them. I think that was the best part of the day! :)

Pop Pop Pop!

Bubble wrapBubble wrap. It’s the best packing material. When I say best I’m not talking about how well it cushions. I’m talking about fun factor. I really enjoy popping bubble wrap. Pop pop pop. It’s almost addictive.

I don’t like packing peanuts. They are messy and crunchy. I manage to spill them everywhere. I don’t like air filled bags. They don’t give satisfying pops, just sad little hisses as they deflate. I don’t like scrunched up paper. It’s just crinkly. Nothing pops like bubble wrap. Alan once got a package of I don’t remember but I do remember there was loads of bubble wrap! There was so much I couldn’t bare to pop any. We rolled it up and saved it for when we needed to ship something.

ok maybe I popped a couple. Pop pop pop!

Lulu purse

I was trying to find a scarf I made for my friend Jennifer. I searched in drawer after drawer and I couldn’t find it. But I did find my Lulu bag. It’s from Rowan Big Easy. This was the first bag I made. In fact I think it was my first non scarf project.
